On Andrea Ross's website. She's like, a theatre legend, here in MA and played Gabriella in the show at Stagedoor and she has a clip on her site. andrea-ross.com My friend, who loves HSM, found it and was like, "ALLIE! BOSTON GIRL IN HSM!" So I watched it. The end.
This is mildly off topic, but omg I saw the video clip and it’s the worst thing ever. I didn’t think that this was achievable but I thought that the acting and singing was even worse than the movie! God help us!
Wow. The video clip sucks. Well, she's good. He's just like any other high school actor.

When did it open and when did it close?

My friend was in it, and he thought it was fantastic and everyone in it was great as well. (But bear in mind, he was obsessed with HSM since the original airing of the movie on DC and may be biased.)
I don't know why I even want to watch the clip, but is anybody else having problems trying to view it? I get re-directed to a blank page.

I'm personally insulted my high school is ten times that crap quality!
Sorry, but you get what I mean. A typical high school actor. Always with the hands. HANDS AND ARMS CAN BE STAGNANT ONSTAGE!

Yeah, the clip isn't working for me either, I get a "This Page Cannot Be Found".

I understand now, I just get annoyed with the stereotypes because my high school is above that level. In a week were putting on a Tom Stoppard play, not exactly high school musical!

What is up with so many people saying, "My high school puts on better-than-average high school productions" statements?
Unless you go to places like LaGuardia, it all depends on the budget and the director, not the talent of the students.
to defend myself I we do have a better theatre program which means better training for nervious teenagers. im not trying to be above others we're just better than others lol

Yeah, but wouldn't you say you're high school is the best theater program because you've been submersed in it for so long? It's like being in a crappy play, but not realizing it's crappy because you've worked in it for so long and you just can't yourself out of it and look at it subjectively. I'm not saying you're high school is crap, just saying. I'm the same way about my theater program at my school, but every now and then I see other school's shows and realize, "oh, we're not THAT great."

Man, that clip put me to sleep. The directing and acting were so incredibly boring. And the song didn't help that. I don't think you can put "oohs" into a musical theater type song and make it work. I mean, who really does that? What does that mean? It doesn't help much for character development or entertainment.

Sorry about another post, but I have to say, I feel sorry for the young girl. After looking through her website, I feel like there's a stage mom lurking behind her. No child her age should try and sing "The Wizard and I" - I'm sorry. The song was intended for someone in their mid 20s - 30s. She doesn't have the voice to pull it off yet, and that's to be expected. I can't stand when I see these pre-teens singing songs like that or the ones from "RENT" - they weren't intended for your age group to sing, so don't.
I see where you're coming from, but as a 14 year old girl, I have to sing a lot that wasn't intended for my age because...what actually was? I don't sing Wicked or Rent, but I sing alot of Sondheim, a lot of opera and art songs, and a lot of Classical Musical Theatre music that wasn't meant for my age group.
she tried to sing "Wizard and I" and it wasn't the best, but it was good. not everybody can be Idina...
She is 14 years old. And there are clips of her with Andrew Lloyd Webber introducing her and talking about how talented she is...I think she's in a pretty good place.
She's pretty dammn talented for her age. She's the youngest person to ever win an Elliot Norton award. Plus, I don't think you can completely judge by these clips. They're not the greatest, but I have seen her perform live and she is spectacular.
And who really cares if she has a stage mother or not? They're annoying, but that's all. Her determination and accomplishments are quite admirable. I don't think anyone can deny that she has talent.
