Some quick thoughts from last night's first preview. The show looks great in the Broadhurst. Loved the play in London and it was great to see it again here. The changes in the production that I could recognize, especially in the final act, work well. No spoilers! The actors playing the two generations of women are so good, real and heartbreaking. No one writes female characters for the stage like Jez Butterworth, The fun playfulness around pop music as always is a signature Butterworth move. Andrews Sisters to the Rolling Stones. Sam Mendes once again is masterful in keeping the story and action surprising and alive. I don't think there's anything else like this on Broadway right now. I want to go back when I can.
