Posted: 8/17/04 at 11:46amDoes anyone know if Neil Patrick Harris has any plans for another show or movie? If not, any roles you would want to see him in?

Posted: 8/17/04 at 11:47amHmmm, I don't know of his plans, but I could see him as Pippin. Anyone agree?

NPH is in that stupid White Castle movie....
and I think Gavin Creel would be an UNBELIEVABLE pippin

Posted: 8/17/04 at 3:56pmDefinitely agreed WhatDoINeed...lots of Pippin-esque performers out there. Gavin works especially well because he's younger looking than NPH, IMO.

Posted: 8/17/04 at 3:58pmI heard NPH pretty much sucked in Assasins, but I didn't get to see it... Did anybody see him perform?

Posted: 8/17/04 at 3:58pmWhat about Gavin as "Pippin" and NPH as the Leading Player??

Posted: 8/17/04 at 4:00pmi saw him, he was alright. he was no michael cerveris or anything. his part didn't have as much to work with as some of the others did, though, which may be why he didn't stand out. i'd like to see him in something else (besides rent and doogie howser) before i judge.

Posted: 8/17/04 at 4:02pmWasn't NPH in Sweeney Todd? I heard he did an amazing job in that...or maybe it was another person with the three name thing going on lol

NPH was AMAZING in Sweeney Todd. He was absolute perfection.
I think he would be great as Pippin, too.

Posted: 8/17/04 at 4:06pmWhat part did NPH play in Sweeney? Mrs. Lovatt?
#13re: His Next Move...
Posted: 8/17/04 at 4:07pmIf he pulled off a part in Sweeney with perfection, then he has to have some voice on him.

Posted: 8/17/04 at 4:12pmThe original BC recording with Angela Lansbury and Len Cariou. NPH has a tremendous voice. I love him as the Emcee in 'Cabaret". His 'I Don't Care Much " was quite lovely.
#16re: His Next Move...
Posted: 8/17/04 at 4:13pmYou have to buy the 1979 OBC album. Len Cariou is a deliciously wicked Sweeney and Angela Lansbury is amazing!!!!

"What part did NPH play in Sweeney? Mrs. Lovatt?"
Ha.
He played Tobias Ragg.

I may get the OBCR, but I hear that the concert version (I don't know which, but BWW Radio plays it) is very good.
Oooo NPH as the Emcee? hmmmm

Posted: 8/17/04 at 4:17pmSorry to move away from NPH (no I'm not sorry at all) but I also hear that Christine Baranski did a mean Lovatt at the Kennedy Center. It was the only Sondheim production from the festival that I missed.

Posted: 8/17/04 at 4:21pmOK, you can't repeat this to anyone, but Lupone is NOT NOT NOT NOT NOT a good Mrs. Lovatt. Yes, typically anything else she does is amazing, but she just didn't pull this part off like Lansbury did. Now NPH as the Emcee works nicely - love to see him in the costume... or lack thereof.

Posted: 8/17/04 at 4:24pmWhy are CATSNYrevival and I the only ones who loved LuPone as Mrs. Lovett! I loved her more than Lansbury!
#24re: His Next Move...
Posted: 8/17/04 at 4:27pmMyName... LuPone didn't hold a candle to Lansbury. I think she overacted it in a way Lansbury didn't. But let's get it clear - I think it is the difference between the gold and the silver medals here, LuPone is no slouch in the role, just not gold medal performance. I love Patti in everything else though (I cringe when I hear Madonna in Evita or Glen Close in Sunset). That woman kicked butt in Anything Goes. I loved her in the PBS Broadway special that was just on.
