It seems obvious from the desparity of the posts that "hokey" is in the mind of the beholder. Another way of putting it might be is that ANYTHING can be "hokey" if a person unable(or unwilling) to put oneself into the mindset of the creative talents or relate to any period except their own.
At least that's the way I see it-I may be wrong.
