I'm seeing RENT at the Hollywood Bowl, and I was hoping someone could inform me on their videotaping/photographing during the performances policy. Thanks.
For most performances they are extremely lenient. Remember the Bowl is considered a public park. I don't think they "officially" are happy with anyone video taping. But they tend to look the other way. And everyone else is doing it.. so there is not much they can do. But chances are that unless you are front and center.. you will only be able to film one of the screens. Just curious as to why tape this show at all? With two versions available commercially... why bother? Nothing you film in this giant outdoor venue will come out all that good. Why not just go and enjoy?
I'm not sure if I will. I'm seeing it all 3 nights, "front and center" as you said on the last one. So the first 2 performances will help me decide if it's even worth wasting camera battery. I really don't feel like the filmed live on B'way version really captures the show, and I dislike the movie very much. I was just hoping on capturing a few favorite songs on video or audio. Thanks for your help!
You should do it. I wanna see if it ends up being as bad as it sounds.

In this case, I'd guess its safe to just do it. You may also lay a lot of curiosities to rest for others too.
