How Many 'Hits"

With the recent closing notices, I was thinking about how many 'hits' ('commercial' shows that recoup) actually occur on Broadway.

Here's my list for the last few years. Am I missing any?

2015-2016

Hamilton & Waitress

2016-2017

Evan Hansen, Come From Away

2017-2018

Springsteen, Harry Potter, (My Fair Lady?), (Frozen -- perhaps to come), (Mean Girls -- perhaps to come)

Interesting question. My Fair Lady is being done by Lincoln Center, which is non-profit, so there will be no recoupment announcement for that. Also, Disney does not really announce when they recoup, so I would not expect an official announcement from Frozen.

Is it not something like 4/7 recoup or recoup during a national tour extension after closing. But only 1/7 are financial “hits” that make returns to investors above a normal interest rate.

There was a new show taking about this a few years back. Around the time of Spider-Man

Just doing a quick search for "recouped" on Playbill, I can see that the following recent shows did announce recoupment (limiting it to the three seasons you mentioned in the original post)

The Play That Goes Wrong

The Band's Visit

A Bronx Tale

Boys in the Band

Farinelli and the King

Latin History For Morons

The Humans

Oh, Hello!

I seem to recall that Three Tall Women and The Lifespan of a Fact also recouped.
