How is the stage door after How To Succeed in Business been now that Nick Jonas is in it? Does Nick come out the stage door and sign autographs and will he let you take a photo with him? Is it really crowded?
My niece really wants to see the show and is a big Nick Jonas fan. I am thinking about arranging a quick trip to NYC and bring her for her birthday.

Given that Jonas has caught on a little, it may be a bit more crowded than when I went. It also HEAVILY depends on the performance you go to (Weeknights usually mean less crowds).
He does stage door, sign autographs, and take pictures, and is such a patient class act about it all. However, be wary your and other's behavior. The ushers/doormen do threaten multiple times that chaos will result in Jonas being whisked off.

Posted: 3/14/12 at 1:11amI think there was an interview recently where he talks about the NYPD asking him not to come out after matinees because the crowds stop traffic, so he stays in his dressing room between performances. I don't remember if it's all matinees or just Wednesdays, though. I'm sure you can google the interview to check.

Nick does come out and takes pictures/signs autographs for as many people as he can. He's been out there for 45 minutes to an hour at times, from what I have heard. He tries to get to everyone, but there usually is a large crowd so he can't always do it. Friday, Saturday and Sunday tend to be more crowded, although now that some schools are on spring break the weekdays might be crowded as well. Last night's show was a sellout, so I assume it was crowded. I'd guess in the summer, when there is no school, it will be the same.
He doesn't come out between any matinees (Wednesday or Saturday) however he does stop and sign/take pictures with fans when he arrives to the theater usually (unless he's really late or has something going on inside--yesterday he couldn't stop because he had interviews to do before the show plus was filming Smash so his arrival was delayed, but he does always apologize when he is unable to stop.)
If you're going during the week, your best bet might to be to try to catch him before the Wednesday matinee. He usually gets to the theater around 1PM and signs/takes pics for as long as he can. You'll probably need to get there a couple hours early though to be able to get near the front of the barricades.
Hope your niece enjoys the show--Nick is really very charming in it, and he's a very nice guy as well. I hope she gets to meet him!

Hmm....well, my success was both (but it was the second day of the show.) We got pics with him before the matinee and I got my playbill signed after the evening show (which was the show we attended) but I can say there was a lot of scary shoving at the evening stage door and the crowds have gotten bigger since then.
So, from my personal experience I'd say you'd have a better chance before the Wednesday matinee. In the evening there will be people who are already standing at the barricades during the show, so unless you're planning on leaving the show early you have less chance of getting closer to the barricades to get pictures.
But even before the Wednesday matinee it wouldn't be a bad idea to get there early, maybe 11:45-12:00 and wait it out for an hour. As I said, he seems to get to the theater around 1-1:15. I'm thinking he tries to come closer to 1PM because he knows people will be waiting outside.
ETA: If you go to Youtube and look up "Nick Jonas Stage Door" there are a few videos people have taken outside the stage door at various times which might give you an idea of the crowds.

It was night and day between Daniel Radcliffe and Nick Jonas. Nick is such a class act and he really takes his time signing and posing for pictures. I went on a Wednesday night.

I found this video for the OP--it is a video of Nick meeting fans before last Wednesday's matinee, just to give you an idea of what the crowds might be like before a Wednesday matinee:

Posted: 3/18/12 at 7:43pmI walked past the theatre on Friday around 8pm and I want to say there was already 10-15 people waiting at the stage door. So maybe it might be best to stage door on a different night than you go, or just try and book it out of the theatre as fast as possible.

From what I'm hearing, Nick supposedly isn't taking any more photos with fans before the shows, although he is still stopping and signing. As the crowds have gotten bigger it's started to take too long to get photos with everyone, I guess.
Now, in that video he posted he's clearly taking pics with fans, so maybe he just isn't taking photos before he arrives for Saturday matinees and evening shows. I'm not sure.
