How about a TOURING area here????
#1How about a TOURING area here????
Posted: 12/18/06 at 2:41amSome people apparently think once a chat area is set up for touring shows noone can post about them in here...so if that's the case, shouldn't there be a TOURING section here? There's already Bway, Off-Bway, West-End, etc....if we are going to seperate everything why is there no TOURING area??? Then maybe people will be able to see exactly what's on tour and what's coming to their cities and support it!! Just a thought.

Yeah, gosh, there's no place you can do that anywhere on the web...

Posted: 12/18/06 at 3:07amThose have the DATES/CITIES everyone is playing...as do MANY sites...but this is a site to DISCUSS (I thought and hoped!) and the areas linked from those pages have NO discussions! Are you only interested in posting dates or really supporting AND discussing the tours out there??? So far, I have found no place online to have RUNNING discussions and threads related to TOURS. If you know of any please feel free to post them.

We have off-Broadway discussion board?
If they split the discussion board into more specific category, it would be pointless. I mean, look at how many people post in Dallas board or Pennsylvania board... No one looks at those boards, even if they lived in those areas anyways. So what's the point of having a touring section? I like having everything clumped up together!
One for Broadway, and one for non-Broadway, and another for audition/colleges (don't ask me why they have WestEnd...)

I actually agree all should be on one board, but CoolPhantom919 told me when I posted a positive review link of ASU tour here that it was on "the wrong board"...of course they never said what the "right" board was either.
But I must admit that the Nat'l Tours link to the right that takes you to the dates also gives a link to discussion...but there is NO discussion for any of the tours I can see. However there seems to be plenty of tour posts in the Bway section of the chat board and I think that's where it belongs! But if some people feel tour posts should be seperate than we need to set up PROPER and ACTIVE boards for these tours to receive the support they deserve.

No, genius, because you did post it on the WRONG BOARD.
You posted about a North American tour on the West End board. The people who post on the West End board do not know, nor care, about the majority of American tours. If you had posted it on the MAIN board, no one would have cared.
There is no off-broadway board. That is OFF-TOPIC, as in subjects not related to theater. All theater discussion (including regional, touring, off- and on-broadway) are dealt with on the main board (with the exception of specifically West End productions, and even those frequently end up being discussed heavily on the main board).

Know what's REALLY annoying? When PEOPLE use all caps SPRINKLED throughout a POST! It makes it VERY difficult to READ and is oh so ANNOYING!

I think by people, you mean "you," and there's only one of you.

Uh, we have jobs, thanks.
And what would be the point of a touring board? The more boards there are the more spread out we become. We don't have a board for every single regional theater, or off-broadway productions.
The problem is that he did actually post it on the wrong board by posting it on the West End board. Had he posted it on the main board he would have received responses other than "wrong board". Nobody living in the UK has seen the ASU tour, why would they have anything to say about it?

That would explain why I couldn't find it!! I never intended it to be on the West End board. For some reason, many times my mouse clicks the West End when I'm trying for Bway....OOPS...
So, yes, my original post was on the wrong board, but it would have been nice to have been told why originally so I could have corrected it quickly as opposed to thinking the responder was being rude by just saying "wrong board!".
I'm still curious though why there is no chat area (or even a seperate board) for touring shows. If I had the time to manage one I would. While I love all the various boards, there are many issues that come up that are particular to tours and are off-topic for these boards. It would be nice to have a place people on tour, Equity and non-Eq, could go to discuss these.
Sorry to get so many riled up.....or not...it got people discussing things, at least.

Well, many of the touring shows are direct from Broadway, and people who are on Broadway may transfer to a tour and vice versa. So I don't think it makes sense since they are both nearly related. If we have a touring board, then we should have a off-Broadway board, an off-off-Broadway board, a community theater board, a regional theater board, and so on. It just doesn't make sense.
The reason why the West End has a separate board is because it is in a totally different part of the world and they have their own trends going on over there.
And we do have other boards related to larger metropolitan areas, such as Boston, but hardly anyone goes there...so if you are that concerned and you want to post about tours coming to different cities, go to those boards.

Only advantge I can see is clearing out clutter on the Main board. Of course, if you went down that road you could very well give each show it's own board, etc. It'd be nice, but I dunno if it's worth it. Isn't the search function helpful enough? lol
p.s. it is and not nearly enough people use it.
