The problem now is will Hugh have time to come back to Broadway for a protracted time?

It has been announced that he has just signed a mulitple-picture deal with Disney where he will co-produce several new movie musicals, in which he may also be playing the lead role. On top of that, he is also co-producing the new XMEN sequels ( XMEN-3 and the WOLVERINE spinoff), which presumably will also involve him in the key role...Then there were those rumours about him being signed up by ALWebber for the movie version of SUNSET BOULEVARD...Right now, he is in the midst of filming the Darren Aronofsky movie THE FOUNTAIN. I am sure he gets a lot of new offers to do other movies, too.

A very physically demanding role, but I think Hugh would be GREAT in it! Barnum has to have charisma oozing out of every pore, and Hugh could certainly fit the bill.
Praying Decca Broadway will put "Don't Bother Me, I Can't Cope" on CD!

It's been talked about. In one of his last interviews, Cy Coleman mentioned the possibility of a Barnum revival with "a major star name". The interviewer said, "You know who'd be good? Hugh Jackamn." Cy Coleman replied, "Ding ding ding!"

Maybe SUNSET BOULEVARD will be produced by Disney?
And if she'll say, "My darling, I'm yours!" I'll throw away my striped tie and my best pressed tweed, all I really need is the girl...

They will have to include a scene for Barnum to strip down to his gold-lamé jockstrap and crack his whip in the lions cage.

I actually think I heard a rumor about this somewhere. Good idea though. Honestly, I wish we could just do all Cy Coleman and Kander and Ebb shows for a season as a tribute. Ok, we could throw in a Sondheim or two as well just for sh*ts. I know it's crazy but I'm just so upset about the passing of two great broadway music makers. Not to mention Jerry...

I think it's a fabulous idea. Since he now has a development contract with Disney to make movie musicals, why not a movie of BARNUM? He'd be charming in the role.

Now that would make a great movie!! The role of P.T requires so much panache & energy that Hugh would be great. And how about sweet Emmy Rossum as the "Swedish Nightengale"? With all the characters in Barnum, it could be an all-star cast! Let's call Eisner & book the gig.

Sunset Boulevard??? There goes the death of the movie musicals again.
"Do you know what pledge time is, Andrew"? said the PBS Executive. "Yes", Lloyd Webber replied. "My 50th birthday special must be one program that gets done a lot." "No", mused the man from PBS heedlessy. "Not so much. Our Stephen Sondheim Carnegie Hall concert. That's a big one." Spoons, forks and knives seemed suddenly to suspend their motion in horror, all around the table.

Hahahha. That sounded funny for a moment. Did you mean it like that?

I think Hugh in the SUNSET movie is a great idea. Perfect.

And in BARNUM, who would play Joice Heth now?
awww, Lilias. Come back.

Hugh would be good but I'd rather see Raul Esparza doing it (if anyone saw him perform "There's a Sucker Born Ev'ry Minute" at Broadway Under the Stars a few years ago would agree!)
