How are Jared and Nic in THE BOOK OF MORMON?

You do know that the Broadway and touring casts are two different casts, don't you? Even if they had stayed with the show, they wouldn't have been in the production in LA.

That being said, I haven't seen Jared and Nic, but I have read good things about them in other threads.

Wait, why did you think the OBC leads would be coming to LA? If you really want an original cast, see it within its first 6 months. Wow. But you're getting Gavin Creel, so that's something.

Anyway, for those who understand how these things work, I've seen Jared and Nic on together, as well as Jared with Andrew and Nic with Josh. The show is in fine form. I love them both. I've actually been more a fan of Jared's Cunningham than Josh's since I first saw Jared a few months ago -- he plays it with a lot of sensitivity and fewer vocal quirks. Nic looks a lot younger than Andrew and plays it slightly more like a charmingly petulant Eagle Scout, which totally works for him. Great voice, too.

I saw The Book of Mormon this Thursday with the new cast members: Nic Rouleau, Jared Gertner and Samantha Marie Ware. They are fantastic! I agree with LizzieCurry, the show is definitely in good hands!

Nic makes a great Elder Price, he brings an excitement to the character, as if he is ready to go out and change the world. And yes, he is younger and really fits the role in that way too. Jared is hilarious. They handle their characters' development throughout the show very well (I won't spoil the plot so I won't go into details). The two of them make a great team. And most importantly, they all have great voices. I have the cast recording, (which is awesome), and I can say that the new cast is equally great! Their voices aren't exactly the same as Andrew, Josh, and Nikki. But they sound fantastic and they make the song their own, so I think the music is just as awesome! The entire cast just radiates energy. The whole show is just exciting and fun throughout, it's absolutely amazing!

I saw Jared in March, opposite Andrew. I thought he was absolutely hilarious in the role. He brought a lot of naivety to Cunningham that I really liked. You really feel bad for his character at the right moments.

I'm seeing the show again in a few weeks. I'm looking forward to the new cast members.

Andrew just tweeted at Jared wishing him a good final weekend before he goes on your with the show...so I guess now we know more of the tour casting. Strange that they made such a big deal of him permanently replacing Josh Gad when it was only going to be for a short time before he went on tour.

For the record, I thought Jared was fantastic in the roll and brought really nice energy and heart to the show.

Jared was hilarious and in my opinion a better portrayal than Gad...Nic was "good"...but his voice isn't as strong as Andrew and in my opinion doesn't have a great belt. I thought he was a decent Emmett in the non equity LB tour.

I had no idea Jared was going on tour! It's pretty cool then because then we know the tour has a great Elder Cunningham! But then I wonder who will be taking over starting next week on Broadway. Guess we'll find out soon enough.

I never saw Andrew Rannells live either, but yes, judging from the cast recording and his tony performance last year, he has a great voice and can definitely do "male belts"! But when I saw Nic this Thursday, I thought he had a great voice too. His version of "I Believe" was pretty strong in my opinion. Maybe he has gotten better since March because he has been playing the role more, especially now that he has taken over. And yes, I agree that he is hilarious! Acting wise, he fits the role perfectly, and his singing was fantastic too in my opinion. I think Nic is a great choice for Andrew's replacement. The show is awesome, period.
