Before I read, saw, or even heard of Wicked I always imagined the Wicked Witch of the East as being green and having good taste in shoes, but bad taste in socks.
And I imagined her giving the Munchkins holidays because her sister was wickeder than she was, so she gave them a break once in a while.
And she didn't know how to use her shoes.

Never even thought about it 'till I saw the show.
"having good taste in shoes, but bad taste in socks."
They're stockings, dammit!
BTW: I know a librarian who wears black and white striped stockings. I tell her all she's missing are the ruby slippers.
My vision of her was eerily similiar to that of the stage show.
I always remember wanting to see more of her character. The Witch of the West was my favorite character (even before Wicked), so I wanted to learn about her sister.
I didn't put her in a wheel chair if that's what you're implying.
i definitely thought she would be green or some non regular color. still wish she was actually pink on stage, like in the book.
