I go to NYC once a year. (Next week!) I try to pick the best shows I can as I don't get there that often. Actually, this year I get to go twice (the second time with my theatre class). I chose the shows for my first trip base on what my theatre teacher selected for us to see later in the year. Here's what I chose: Wicked, Brooklyn, Piazza, Avenue Q. Tell me what you think of my selection! Rank it if you want. The second time around I'm seeing Dirty Rotten scoundrels, Spamalot, Wicked, and Brooklyn.
piazza and q are great choices. As for wicked and brooklyn i have yet to see them. Also drs is very funny.
PIAZZA and Q are excellent.
I don't particularly like WICKED. It's mediocre.
BROOKLYN is one of the worst shows I've ever seen.
Well, for one thing, you are not seeing any plays.
With so many good ones open (Doubt, Woolf, Glengarry, Twelve Angry Men, etc) that is a real shame.

Back away from brookyln. Run, do not walk. Brooklyn was not very good. I'm not going to bash it, but you can do so much better than that. It's not very original and the music isn't very good.
Wicked--it's entertaining. Recommendable. Once, though. Seeing it twice? I don't know.
Avenue Q-- Yes! Definitly
Dirty Rotten--Yes. That's awesome. It's a great show
Spamalot--Hilarious, with a great cast
Piazza--I don't know I haven't seen it.
My advice? Trade in the Brooklyn ticket for Spelling Bee, and Wicked for Altar Boyz. You'll get to see Wicked and Brooklyn on your second trip, and IMO Wicked is not worht more than one view, and Brooklyn none.
fiyero, i know it's pretty cool to be able to know a show before the rest of your class sees it but i think you should switch Brooklyn for another show. not that i think it's bad. i support you seeing it with your class but if you come into the city so rarely i think you should switch it up.
oh! do go see Altar Boyz. :) then you can tell your class about it! haha

Personal taste aside, I do agree that if your opportunities are limited, it's a shame to see things twice - especially with so many other viable options.
