Posted: 8/19/08 at 8:55amPlease don't crucify me for starting a thread about RENT. Tickets for the general public were not available after 9/4. How did people get tickets for the final performace? Is the entire audience for the final show made up of friends and family members of the producers? Just wondering.

The show was really supposed to end June 1st so the people that had tickets for that show since it was not the final show got refunds for tickets to the real last show. I think those are the only people that actually got tickets. the rest will be family and friends I don't think they went on sale.

My friend is going. Pretty much the second that the first closing date was posted she grabbed her tix through telecharge (or whoever holds the ticketing for Rent.) Granted, she has a horrible seat, but she's thrilled to be going.
And yes....once they changed the date, she was given the opportunity to exchange it for the current close date.
Here's the weird thing: she was TOLD they would mail her her new tix, but she hadnt' rec'd it yet. So when we were in NY last week or so she stopped by the b.o. to pick it up. They decided NOT to release the tix. I may not remember THIS part exactly but I'm pretty sure they told her she'd have to pick it up the day of!!! (I'm guessing they are worried about scalpers) THe odd thing was: they weren't notifying ticket holders that they WEREN'T sending them out!)
If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it?

Posted: 8/19/08 at 10:16amI tried to get tix for the final performance as well when it was announced last January (i think). The best I could get was Saturday at 8 pm...then when they changed the closing date, i went to exchange my seats- and they said I could not getting anything after 9/4. I had purchased the premium seats, so I was pretty upset that I was not going to go the the 3rd to the last show. The theater was very helpful and suggested that I write a letter explaining my situation. I sent the letter and then about 2 months later I checked back and they had out me on the list to go on 9/6. Initially, they told me that I would pick up my tickets on the day of the show, but then they called me to ask if I wanted my tickets mailed or kept at the box office. I went by there and picked them up a few weeks ago. I'm very excited for your friend.

I got my tickets for the final show (originally 6/1) the night it was announced and when they extended they gave everyone who purchased tickets for that performance the option to exchange for 9/7.
I'm flying in and making a weekend out of it.
There were several sets still available when I got mine and I wish I would have picked up a pair for my friends.
