Do they study journalism or english?
Do they minor in theater?
Write a review and send it to your local paper in the hopes of getting freelance work. Move on from there. Having a journalism degree can only help you in this situation.
You also could major in Communication Studies and I think, you would do it under the media track. I also believe you can get your masters degree in just media criticism, or something related.
Or, you could do what a lot of people do on this board - be jealous and bitter for anyone who achieves any type of success. Then write about how awful the show was, because you know everything, and pretend to not have any emotional baggage.
It's everyone's fault but mine......that's the mindset to have.
Seriously, what Frogs said is correct. Start there and work your way up the ladder.

Send a PM to PB ENT. She's the foremost drama critic in the Philadelphia area.
Judging from her writing skills, she hasn't majored in English or journalism. Considering how little she knows of theater, I doubt that she minored in that subject, although she may have painted sets for a community theater production or two.

Hey, don't knock it - that was my job in college *w*
But in all seriousness a lot of people have told me to look into becoming a critic but I don't think I have the mindset for it.
