How is Patti Lupone at the stagedoor of gypsy?
Is she one of those sign and leave people or does she talk to you?
I've heard she breathes fire, but that might only be on alternate Wednesdays.
I thin she should get that checked out...or use some tums
she signed my friends top hat at Sweeney in 06'
She is very nice. Quick, but she'll sign and if it isn't crowded she'll pose for pictures.
Beware of the people who are "guarding" her though. On Friday night they were awful - literally pushing her into her car. And it wasn't even crowded, it was very calm and quiet.
Does she still not sign after the first show on two-show days?
just be quick! My friend and I weren't quick enough with a camera after Gypsy last summer and she left in a huff... it was kind of devistating... but then I realized... just be quick... and she's a doll. :)
jv, I think the current trend is that Patti isn't coming out after matinees.
Julian I was just looking at your avatar and I am just loving the new wig. So Perfected and she looks stunning. Bravo

Two Saturdays ago it was freezing out. She came out and quickly signed autographs for one side of front-row fans. She thought about going into her SUV but then decided to sign autographs for the other side of front-row fans. She then exclaimed, 'It's too cold!" and quickly went into her SUV. I don't blame her really because of the cold temperatures. I don't know how she usually is weather permitting. Boyd Gaines and Laura Benanti were much more friendly, taking photos/signing autographs as well as chatting briefly with some of the fans.
I know when I met her at the stage door after Sweeney she was really amazing. It was very late in the run, I think like the last week or two. She stayed for a long time to sign for everyone there. She was very friendly and had a lot of nice little conversations with people. Actually the entire cast was really amazing!
"ask RyToast! "
I was going to say that too! haha

this is coming to you from Erie, PA! Ah the amazement that is the BlackBerry!!
Patti is a doll at the stage door...and if you're lucky, you might get some action while you're there! just be nice to her and she'll be nice in return...unless you're ugly...she hates ugly people!!!
JUST KIDDING! It's late, and I just drove seven hours by myself from NYC!
She should never be allowed thru one!!!
So the consensus is - no Patti after matinees?
If you'd really like to get some chatting time, I would suggest bringing a gift or something. I brought her flowers when I saw Sweeney, and she had a nice conversation with me whereas she was very quick with everyone else.
But I'm still young and cute, so...
