From concept, to workshops, to possible out-of-town-tryouts...how many years would you remain faithful to a project, before it actually makes it to Broadway...? Lots of commitment AND love needed here...
Does anyone know who has the distinct position of being the actor who remained the longest with a show before it opened in Broadway?

There is a lot of time off in between those things...so it's not like an actor couldn't work on other projects in the meantime. But just like anything else: it depends on the person...you stick with it until you don't want to anymore. It's like asking: how long do you keep auditioning before you give up....only the individual can determine that.
I know Lea Michele (Spring Awakening) stayed with the show since the time she was 14. I could be wrong with the age, but it was a freakishly long time. I'm pretty sure the story goes that she turned down Eponine for the revival to stick with it.
