If I wanted to get the right the rights to a musical how much would it normally cost? If anyone is thinking specifics, I'm thinking of Seussical TYA.

There is never any commitment when inquiring rights and royalties. MTI IS FABULOUS to work with.

Dramamama is right; MTI is wonderful...so long as you are wonderful with them. Follow the (clearly laid out) rules and you'll have a great experience doing a show that is a blast to be a part of!

There will be a rental fee (and refundable deposit) for the scripts and music materials and a royalty for the performances themselves. The Royalty is per performance and varies greatly depending on the show, size of the venue and the ticket price.

^Not always true.
If the TYA is anything like the Jr. Series (and I believe it is) the materials are not only included, but yours to keep.
Also, number of performances doesn't matter either for Jr's. If I remember correctly, your license covered up to a year's use. (It has been a long time, however, since I've utilized a Jr.)
I know both the Jr and TYA series are incredibly reasonable.
