We're arriving on a Monday in June. We have tickets and great seats for Frozen and Cursed Child Tuesday and Wednesday. I'd planned to wait to buy the other tickets for shows later in the week directly from the box offices when we arrive on Monday, but now I'm second guessing. How much per ticket does it save? I want the cheapest available. I'm concerned that if I wait, they will be sold out of the cheap seats and we'll have to buy orchestra or front mezz, which would end up costing more than just going ahead and buying from Ticketmaster or Telecharge.

You would save the Ticketmaster/Telecharge fees. What shows? Some also offer rush/lotto or may be on TKTS for cheaper options.

You would save the fees, but you also may not get seats since it is last minute.

Sometimes, I find flyers with codes on them and go to the box office. Ive gotten several front rows for 89 because of this.

In addition to the money you save on handling fees or through a rush discount, I've had box office attendants sell me seats for slightly less than face value because I was polite (War Paint) or because I visibly hemmed and hawed at the full-price of a ticket (Curtains). If it's not a super hot show, I think it's absolutely worth waiting and heading to the box office.

When I see the phrase "the ____ estate", I imagine a vast mansion in the country full of monocled men and high-collared women receiving letters about productions across the country and doing spit-takes at whatever they contain. -Kad

Unless you know you're going to some hot, buzzy shows, you may be better off waiting. There could be better discounts, and if you're coming from more than 100 miles away, you can even get a National Membership to TDF and potentially get cheap tickets there (if the show is not doing well): https://www.tdf.org/nyc/25/National-Gift-Memberships

We have Friday evening, two shows Saturday and the Sunday matinee open.

Lottery and TKTS aren't options because we will be sight seeing earlier in the day. I have signed up
for each show's promo emails and TheaterMania, watching for a discount code. I know LK won't be discounted.

The Bands Visit seems pretty easy to get relatively cheap tickets last minute on stubhub, but then again this will be in June. So who knows how popular it will be by then with tony nominations/wins

That one is really up in the air. My daughter loves Tony Shaloub as Monk. Just going by the plot of the play, she wasn't as interested. But then we're still tempted because it would be nice to see something that's nominated for a Tony.

Right, so that one is a maybe. Here's another question, maybe better for a new thread: do you see shows you're not necessarily interested in if they are OBC or a potentially Tony nominated show? In late 2016 I debated between DEH and Amelie for a March trip. Plenty of tickets available. I chose Amelie because I figured if we missed Hamilton OBC, at least we could see a cast member. ??

I’m pretty sure it was announced tony would rejoin in May with an alternate.

I would always see the show I was most interested in first, because in the process, you missed the OBC of DEH, which won the Tony for Best New Musical.

Actually in that case, if I'd gone with the buzz from this board, I would've picked DEH. Wish I'd gone with that. We enjoyed Amelie, but it was a little too quirky and my family is usually all about quirky!

I think if you wait on My Fair Lady you'll be out of luck. Unless you qualify for the ticket programs (which I don't). I bought a ticket a couple of weeks ago for my trip in mid May. Ticket options were not that great, in the lodge (which are the cheaper (?) seats). I got a not so great seat and still spent over $100.
