And last Saturday evening--35% off, not 50%

not a good sign. a newer show like DRS shouldn't need to unload tickets on TKTS this soon

Well even shows with great reviews--Pillowman, Woolf, were up there...so maybe it's the economy. Piazza was up there too.

So sad, I am worried for all of those shows.
I stand corrected, you are as vapid as they say.

DRS is playing to 85-90% capacity - Pillowman even better. I wouldn't worry about either show, especially after their expected Tony wins.

If they pick up the Tony's that would definitely help. Is DRS really favored though, I thought Bee and Spamalot were expected to duke it out?

The problem is that ticket prices are so high.
700 Sundays is $251 dollars. It will probably take the Tony but who can afford that price?
I don't think many people.
Sort of a tragedy. Same thing for Spamalot.

Spamalot and 700 Sundays are selling out despite the price. 700 Sundays will close before the Tonys. In any event, a Tony for 700 Sundays would have no impact on box office.

They are getting $385 dollars for a ticket tonight.
I adore Billy, but that is insane.
Guess I will pop in the tape of "When Harry Met Sally"
YES YES YES.

Penguin, DRS may not win best musical (although I hope it does), but Norbert should get a Tony for his performance, and that's a pretty big category to win. I think the Tonys will help the show.
On the less positive side, I did lotto yesterday and I talked to a woman who said that they are thinking of stopping the lottery because it isn't popular enough. That doesn't bode well. I hope the Tonys bring some more publicity to the show.

Ack, No they must not stop the lottery, they need to advertise or something. I will have to go everyday now!
I hope DRS will win the Tony too, but I see you could have been talking Norbert.

I just realized, your last name is Butz! Both "Norbert" AND "Butz" are in your name! You must have gotten picked on a lot as a child!

Shows like DRS and PILLOWMAN are on TKTs booths now because they aren't receiving as much hype as shows like WICKED and now SPAMALOT. But still even the very much anticipated shows like CHITTY and SWEET CHARITY have been TKTs, and virtually every show on Broadway right now has been available for purchase at the booths lately, so who knows...
And if she'll say, "My darling, I'm yours!" I'll throw away my striped tie and my best pressed tweed, all I really need is the girl...

Stopping the lotto? Who did you speak with, because the only person I've seen do the lottery is a british guy...and it was popular on a miserable rainy Saturday evening...it's only 21 seat, so I don't know why they'd stop.

Thanks for the help guys! So is there a good chance of getting Orch seats at TKT? I just don't want to sit partial view. I got Wonderful Town from Orch seats from TKT.. But they were the last seats in the row - so you missed a few things. I hope I can get better view for DRS.

They did yesterday. I didn't think they were going to eliminate it so soon!

"At the opening night party, they had clowns on stilts, jugglers, a chocolate fountain, popcorn, hot dogs. [My son] looked at me like I had been holding back. Like, 'This is what you do?' I had to tell him, 'No, no, darling. Opening nights don't usually look like this.' It's usually a dark bar with a bottle of vodka." ?Chitty Chitty Bang Bang's Jan Maxwell
