"on how great it was when it really was not."
Wow Jimnysf, amazing how whatever anyone else thinks is opinion, yet what YOU say is fact.
Seriously, I cannot understand WHY you put so much time into tearing apart something you obviously don't like. If there's a show I don't like, I ignore it. Your time would be so much better spent talking up a show you like, and I can guarantee it wouldn't annoy people as much. Really, it's getting old.

And so is your need to comment as well, sweetie.

Replace the critics.

My defending the show doesn't hurt anyone. Your incessant need to rip it apart does.
And honestly, look at the number of threads you've posted in regarding the show, and how many I have. Really, there is no comparison. Not that it even matters, there's just really no need to continue kick people when they're down which you seem to enjoy doing profusely. You know that fans and cast members alike both read the boards, and I'm pretty sure everyone gets that you didn't enjoy the show already.

It applies to all shows not just Vampire shows
Methinks vampire musicals are down for , pardon the pun , The Count . This is coming from someone who enjoyed all 3 to varying degrees

I thought it was slow. It was just...not much actually happened. There are few stakes when you live eternally...except for the ones you plunge through your heart of course. I usually love Elton, but none of the songs stood out except for "I Want More." Everything was the same torch ballad. Maybe an all sung through rock version would have been fun.
However, I will say this. It was SEXY. All the pretty boys kept me very entertained, regardless of the material.
This was not the cast's fault...hope to see Drew and Hugh in many more shows!

I did see it, and my reaction afterwards was that they should have done something closer to the movie. Focus on EITHER Gabrielle and Nicolas OR Louis and Claudia. Trying to cram both storylines into one two-and-a-half hour musical left you with very hollow, underdeveloped characters and cheesy moments that came out of nowhere. If they had given the entire length of time to one of those storylines, it would have had the necessary time to develop and the musical might have been much better.
Oh, and the dialogue would definitely need to be reworked. "I died, and yet I live"? Come on.

Posted: 6/7/06 at 9:15pmThe one way they COULD have fixed it while it was still open would be casting Drew Sarich as Lestat, seeing as he was MUCH better in the part.

I like Menzel's suggestions on how to fix Lestat. I saw it in its last week expecting it to be a bomb and I was surprised by how much I liked it. It would deviate from the books but that didn't hurt Wicked much.
The one thing that has to go is that goofy Marius entrance at the end of Act 1. Sheesh.

I didn't see lestat but as a rule, I don't agree with the notion that just because a show closes on broadway its a finished matter.
there is more to theatre and to the life of a play or musical than broadway.
if lestat sucked than it is an unfinished work. the writers could choose to finish it. that's completely valid.
this broadway production isn't necessarily the definitive answer on the matter.
these are all comments I would apply to other artistic flops.
