I loved it. I’m not sure it will get a nom for best musical but the choreo and actors are highly likely to get nods. The book is okay, the music is nothing new. But the performances are fantastic, by Aaron Tveit and Danny Butstein and Karen Olivo... curious to hear what others think. I sat in the front row and it was THRILLING.

All depends on the competition. There are many shows I can think of that were very high quality shows but lost to other high quality shows, and many where I go "Wow what happened that year" because the competition was so thin.
The general consensus was that the book needed work, some of the songs did not work (but that's unlikely to change) but the overall effect was pretty fantastic, particularly sets/costumes. Lots of spectacle. Some years that's enough, other years it's not. I am anticipating minimal changes for broadway.

I did not see it, though I have three friends who have been involved in theater for 30 decades who saw it, as they were truly looking forward to this. Their consensus (which I personally hold to a high standard): "The sets were breathtaking, the costumes were incredible , the rest of the musical: ehhh." They felt it had a long way to go with book, music and direction before it landed on Broadway.

^^ is accurate. Great sets and costumes. No story. No chemistry among the stars. Danny is asked to sing songs he has no business singing.
If you loved the movie you'll love this.
If you didn't love the movie you'll just sit there shaking your head.

I hope the book is strengthened a bit too. Overall the spectacle of this is worth seeing however. We don't know the competition yet but I fully expect this to be nominated for best musical, not sure it can win however.

Th er re are gafs of people that loved the film and hated this, and I'm living proof of the opposite hated the film and enjoyed this.
Btw...to the op....isn't igible fir this years Tonys anyway. Any proof of it gettimg nominated is still 15 months away.
Also to the op...dont you get tired of coming up with new screen names?
