Has anyone ever met Brian Stokes Mitchell? I'm a huge fan of his and have met him several times. He is always so nice and humble. Anyone have any Stokes stories?

i saw him coming out of the stage door of the Ford Center when he was doing Ragtime...i worked 2 blocks from the Center and i literally crossed the street because I am so in awe of him I wouldn't know what to do with myself. I'm rarely ever "star struck" but there's something about "The Stokes". I've seen him in person plenty of times but have never mustered enough nerve to actually go up to him. I started an appreciation thread for him on this board awhile back. and you're cool in my book cuz u got good taste in performers!

If you ever get the chance again approach him. He is the best! I've talked to him at least five times and you feel like you know him.. If anyone had a bad experience with him I would be shocked. He is pretty much the only one my heart flutters for. Except for Adam Pascal, I adore him too.

I love Stokes. I was so sad that he was out when I saw MOLM, but I heard him sing The Impossible Dream live at Bryant Park. Heaven. He's really something special.

i met him at the bcefa flea market this year!!
he was nothing but a gentleman!! i really expected him to think of himself as high and mighty, if anyone has a right to he does!! But he was really nice and listened to what i said!!
he was topped in niceness only by christopher sieber - he was hysterical and seemed to genuinely care about every word i said!!!

I had the pleasure and privilege of meeting Stokes back in his Kiss Me Kate days and he was amazing. His talent blows me away and personality is fabulous....he's not too bad to look at either. heh heh

Stokes is the most down to earth person you could meet. He will literally have a conversation with you at the stage door. Unlike most performers of his caliber, which is quite high, he is not a "star" when you speak to him. If you congratulate him, or tell him he was great, he will take it and respond to it like it was the first time someone has said that. It is so humbling and satisfying to watch him interact with his fans and just people in general.
Besides his disposition, he does have one of the greatest voices in the musical theatre of almost any time. I believe he will make the top all-time voices list at some point. (If he isn't already on there.)

I have known Stokes for a very long time. Not many people know this, but he was the first person we played the songs in The Last Session for back when we were writing it. He sat right in our living room and heard them, loved them and wanted to do the show but he had just signed to star in a little workshop up in Canada for some show.. I think it was called "Ragtime."
(When we saw Ragtime in L.A. I jokingly wrote in his guestbook, which kept in his dressing room, "Fire your agent!"). In an odd quick of fate, BTW, our star was Bob Stillman (of "Dirty Blonde" fame) -- both he and Stokes had appeared together in Kiss of the Spider Woman.
We saw him again last week on the street and he promised he'd come see Big Voice this weekend if he could get a sitter, etc. So I hope he does come!
And yes, he's the nicest person you'd ever want to meet.
The Big Voice -- 2 performances left this weekend.

Do you know if he is working on any projects presently? I wish his solo CD would come out soon. I've never wanted to buy a CD more than I want his.
