Huge Stokes Fan!!! — Page 2

When we saw him, he was rushing to an appointment so we mostly just asked him about the wife and kids, etc. and how he was doing. He seemed very happy but didn't indicate any current projects. If is able to make our show this weekend I'll be sure to ask. We have some great video of him, btw, backstage at the Martin Beck theatre with the actress Piper Laurie.

I mistyped cuz I have limited online time. He has one kid. I think his name is Ellington.

BTW, I'll tell you something you don't know about Stokes. He's a brilliant composer. Jimmy and I were privileged to be in a musical theatre writing workshop with him in Los Angeles a number of years ago and his songs were BRILLIANT. When I try to get him to talk about it, he just kind of brushes it off. He's a great pianist, too.

Count me among the Stokes Folks. I met him three times in one week during a New York trip--I was so excited. Have always LOVED him. The first time was May 10 of last year. It was my birthday and my friends and I had dinner and saw Enchanted April. They had also given me a birthday card with the Broadway Bears Don Quixote bear on it. Walking back to our hotel on 10th Avenue, we passed the Martin Beck (now the Al Hirschfeld) just as Mr. Mitchell had come out of the stage door. I waited for his autograph and showed him the card. He had not seen it and seemed truly tickled. He wrote "Happy Birthday, Chris" and his signature.

I had tickets for the 15th for MOLM and, of course, I stayed at the stage door again and this time had a picture taken with him and he signed my Playbill.

That next weekend, I saw him at the Hell's Kitchen street fair on 9th Avenue. I said hello once more and told him how much I had enjoyed MOLM.

As many have mentioned, he was unfailingly gracious and sweet. He made SURE that everyone at the stage door got to take a picture or get an autograph if they wanted. Just a real class act!

Everytime Fresh Prince is on (which is many times during the week) I try to see if it is one of Stokes' episodes but so far I have not seen him. I want to. I know he plays Trevor. He was in like 5 episodes.

i would like to see him do "george" in sondheim's "sunday in the park with george" opposite audra mcdonald as "dot".

also "guido contini" in "nine"

perhaps "bobby" in "company" if only to hear him sing "being alive"

i get so upset everytime they play his death episode of Fresh Prince. Ragtime flashbacks I think. but then I see him being a thorn in Frasier's side, and I smile. then there was the time Will and Carlton got arrested and wound up being in the same cell as Ray McLeod during his biker days... ahh TV memories!

As Sweeney again. He was perfect! Gave me the chills, and definitely had the talent to pull it off. STOKES FOREVER!

Does anyone know about Stokes's solo album? I checked his website many times but no info.
