I was flipping channels this morning and happened on an interview with Hugh Jackman on "The Insider." At the end, they did this "lightning round" type thing where the interviewer gave him two choices and he'd pick one... the first one was "Hollywood or Broadway" and Hugh [quickly] chose Broadway... and then laughed and was like, "oooohhh!"... sort of like, "what did I just say???" It was very cute. :)
i love Hugh but i have been watching MANY of his interviews lately and they've all been stock answers. he does tend to offer up varying degrees of himself in them but a lot of it is repetative answers. i hate when actors tend to do this...
i'd be excited if he comes back to Broadway in "Leap of Faith" (or anything)

a lot of interviews get sooo repetitive when people are just doing appearances for movies and are asked the same questions. Hugh is too cute to hate for doing that, though :)
I agree, bwaybabe3. Hugh is awesome and he's not to blame for repetitive questions. Especially if you watch all of them. lol.
Hugh is wonderful in his movies, but after having seen him on stage, he seems more at home and really enjoys himself in front of a live audience. I'd say it's his personality, him being a people person and all

If you can beg, borrow or buy the June issue of the OPRAH Magazine, there is an excellent interview of Hugh by Oprah. It provides deep insights on the man and the performer.
He does talk about being in the moment and how he achieves that as a performer as well as a human being. I like how he simplifies philosophy as simply "the love of wisdom" and how he handles meditation as simply "sitting with God and having a rest". He says he looks at acting as the best training for life.
The first question posed to him : "When did you know for sure, with zero equivocation, that you were an actor?"
Hugh: "During THE BOY FROM OZ...I love acting, but I always said to Deb that I might do something else at some point. During Oz, though, I had moments of being completely at home onstage. Then when I hosted the TONY Awards, I thought,'Here I am at Radio City Music Hall' and I feel like I am with a bunch of friends. It just felt so natural... That's when I first said 'I'm meant do do this'. As a boy, I've always had an interest in theater. But the idea at my school was that drama and music were to round out the man. It wasn't what one did for a living. I got over that. I found the courage to stand up and say 'I want to do it'..."

The dilemma for him now is there is newfound success for him in Hollywood with the opening of his new movie. "XMEN:The Last Stand" smashed Memorial Day Weekend records in domestic ( USA and Canada) box office history as well coming second only to Star Wars for Best Opening Day record ever ( The movie sold $ 44.1 million worth of tickets for Opening Day - which is actually higher than the $ 42 million or so gross receipts for THE BOY FROM OZ in its entire run) as well as Best Friday Opening ever.
He was a producer in that movie and will also co-produce the WOLVERINE spinoff. There are talks of his remake of GUYS AND DOLLS and the rest of his movie musical deals with DISNEY, as well as a few other film projects being lined up for him. For the rest of the year, he is going to be noticed with his dramatic portrayal in Darren Aronofsky's THE FOUNTAIN, the Woody Allen movie SCOOP and the Christopher Nolan movie THE PRESTIGE ( with Christian Bale, Michael Caine, David Bowie and Scarlett Johansson).
All very heady stuff for an emerging major name in Hollywood!
And yet he talks of going back to Broadway in either PAL JOEY, LEAP OF FAITH or even a straight play. And he says he will find the time for the stage despite his very busy schedule! As he will find the time in the next few months for the arena version of TBFO!
Maybe if he is a true mutant, he can do films and theatre work both at the same time

Believe he will do both
Due to X Men, he is set for life monetarily. He can pick and choose any movie he wants. he does now have Broadway in his blood & like Banderas will return. Imagine both Jackman & Banderas in the same show? That would definitely crtic proof
Wonder if Jackman had done Lestat if it would still be running
