BIG OL' SHILL ALLERT HERE: I know both Keith David and the show's conductor Jeff Klitz.
Saw "Hot Feet" last night. Here are my thoughts:
I literally gasped at all the beautiful bodies in motion on that stage, & I was exhausted by the evening's end just watching them. Felt the choreography showed off the dancers beautifully.
Ann Duquesnay has vocal cords of steel and an incredibly soulful voice.
As far as I'm concerned, Keith David can sell tickets to sing the phone book & I'll be there. He & Ann D sounded great in their duet.
Allen Hidalgo is appropriately funny & smarmy, & played his part of Mephistofoles to the hilt.
Wynonna Smith, woo that lady can move & she looks reminiscent of Tina Turner in her TT wig.
Michael Balderrama as Anthony made a good & sympathetic dancing partner & love interest for Vivian Nixon in a role that could have been very boring in less capable hands.
Vivian Nixon can move parts of her body that I didn't know could move. Her dancing is perfected to the nth degree. I actually feel that this can be said of all the dancers in the show. They seem to love being on that stage, & it showed, including little Samantha Pollino. & I don't want to fail to mention a little movement by Mr. David, to boot.
I am intentionally staying away from discussing the book/dialogue & miking, as the show hasn't opened yet.
But, chil'en, if you loves you some great music, great dancin' & singin', get yo'sefs down to the Hilton Theatre to catch this show!
Here endeth today's sermon....
