Shills already? I give this show about 3 months...
If your having a heart attack it might be smart to take care of that, 'cause you know having a heart attack could dampen your time at the show...
Oh and you joined today...curious.

is it not "cool" to be excited about scoring "opening night" tickets? thought i would let fellow fans know!!!!
thanks for the welcome guys!!
WELCOME!!!***shoots fireworks and streamers off***Better?
No one said you were uncool...have fun though!
It's true! I'll be in the Balcony Row E.
My close friend Mollie was a major fan of this soundtrack and band and saw their original tour of American Idiot. Unfortunatly she passed away when we were in high school towards the end of 2005. I'm so happy to be there opening night to represent her!

i was shocked.. i think this is a pretty exciting deal... it will be a MAJOR celebrity-packed event... i come to this site often and i thought it would be a great place to share the news... rather than put the tix in the hands of scalpers!!! good for you, jim!!!!

the last few seem to be gone!!! wow, how exciting!!! i hope some (positive) forum people were able to get some.
does anyone know if this is normal? do they normally SELL tickets to an opening as popular as this... i am really beside myself...
i will attempt to calm down now...
As popular as what? It's doing steady business but it's hardly selling out at the moment. The tickets don't seem to be the best in the house either. I highly doubt they'd stick an "important person" in that crappy balcony.

You're the one making incorrect statements.
Now put you Mom's credit card back in her purse where you snatched it from and go to bed. It's waaaaaaaaaaaaay past your bedtime, young lady.

Yeah, when I'm way positive, I think Greenday. Ray of sunshine, those guys.
I'll be positive and thank you for posting! I was able to snatch up tickets as well. Saw the show last week and really enjoyed it. I love attending opening nights. There is just an energy that can't be matched. Last season I was able to attend the opening nights for Hair, Next to Normal, and 9 to 5, so this will be my first this season.
By the way, "Promises, Promises" Opening Night tickets are on sale as well.
Just grabbed mine.
LOL! Should I give this girl my tickets? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9vwg2Kd25VA
Yeah, not that unusual to get opening night tickets. I went to A Chorus Line opening and Curtains. Usually, if you look at ticketmaster just before the opening performance, tickets become available.
The AI website is running some opening night contest. You need to submit a video...so I'm guessing that MIGHT be what that vid is for. The prize is tix to opening night, admittance to the opening night party, hotel accommodations and up to $1500 reimbursement travel expenses. Pretty sweet deal all for a video.
PS....looks like whatever tix were available for opening night are now gone.
I just got tickets to Promises opening night too!! ooo I'm so excited!

I've been to a couple opening nights, and while they're a great experience, especially if it's a show that you're really excited about, I'd just like to comment that they usually don't comp the rear mez or balcony to invited guests. The show usually starts late, the intermission is extra long, but it makes for good people watching and celeberaty spotting, if you're into that.
I'd much rather attend an early preview, or a performance close to opening night. For a successful show (and I expect this to be one) the time around Tony's season is special too.
But if you have never been to a Broadway opening, go and enjoy!
I saw A Little Night Music opening night, it really is an awesome experience. The energy buzz in the audience makes it that much better.

I also got a ticket. I saw the first preview show, and it was great. I'm excited to see the official opening. But, what does one wear to a Broadway opening?
I am coming from Rhode Island, so I will be listening to Green Day all the way to NYC.
Congratulations! Have a great evening!
While folks are often a bit more dressed up for an opening night...it certainly isn't required. No one will be paying attention to you! (not being snarky)
Dress up (like you're going to a wedding)...Everyone else does and it'll be more fun for you. Also, plan to get there at least 45 minutes early and stand in the street near the front of the theater. You'll see lots of celebrity guests arriving to have their photos taken on their way in.
Have a great time!
