I made a bet with some friends who arn't as familiar with theatre that The Color Purple will not win a single Tony (I said no Tony they said two Tonys). What does everyone think?

I say they'll at least win Featured Actress, set design, and probably best original score. And maybe Lead Actress.

Yeah, I agree with Best Score. It's the best original score of the season. I wish Lachanze would win, though she's got some pretty tough competition. Listening to her scream "nettttttie" on the cast recording just puts tears in my eyes. It's so powerful. I can't wait to see her performance.

Possible some acting. Possible some design.

Yup, 11 nominations. But last year I think DRS got 11 and only won one for Norbert.

That would totally be like a replay of the Oscars when the film (one of the top nominated films of the year) did not win a single award. Of course, the film didn't really deserve one.

SueleenGay, I was thinking that too. I believe the film also received 11 Oscar nominations. Wouldn't it be sad if the musical (which is also nominated for 11 Tonys) doesn't win a single one. Oh, I thought the movie deserved at least one award -- for Whoopi.
