I Re-Visited "School of Rock"

What a thrill is to catch Alex Brightman in this show...he is truly a force of nature and was born to play this role. I had previously seen co-star Sierra Boggess and now her replacement Jennifer Gambatese was fantastic. Good to see Jenn back on Broadway after her hiatus. Is there anything this woman can't do? Both Sierra and Jenn have to hit very high notes in this show and they both succeed/succeeded.

I have a love-hate relationship with the show, it is loud, I don't like rock and roll, I don't like children...yet, this show triggers me and I always leave crying and loving it. I think it's one of the best shows currently on Broadway. A must see.

This was one of my favorite shows last season. I loved Brightman's performance.

Saw the show twice! The first time I caught it was right after it opened and it is what brought be back to the theatre community. I adored alex brightman and was in awe of his talent and energy that he maintains throughout the show. Unfortunately the second time I saw the show he must have either been sick or was starting to get sick because his voice was deffintely not at the level I remember hearing it at. He was reaching and at times was totally off. I'm interested in catching it one more time because I feel like he had must have been sick and I don't want that to be the last impression I have of him in a role he killed when I saw him the first time.

Does he have a planned exit date?

When I found out I won, I almost didn't go because I was tired and just wasn't sure if I would even like the show. But I bought the ticket and headed uptown after work, and I'm so glad I did. If I had to describe SoR in two words, it'd be: pleasant surprise. Brightman was as fantastic and vibrant as described, and the kids were so, so talented. Bobbi Mackenzie especially had me tearing up during "If Only You Would Listen." As someone who absolutely loved the movie, I liked the little changes to the story that were made, (yes, even the new romance angle between Dewey and Ms. Mullins). And "You're in the Band" and "Stick it to the Man" had me toe-tapping in my seat. I just really, really liked it and it was a fun night at the theatre. I even listened to the cast album on the train ride back to Brooklyn! I'm also glad I caught Brightman before he leaves.
