Am I the only one who feels this way? I mean I wouldn't consider myself a huge fan of the show or obsessed in any way with it, but I like it. The music is great, the book is servicable. I just don't want to see it close. Disney has enough money to keep it running even without selling any tickets. Why close? I'll be sad to see it go...
Personally, I feel that the shows that run forever and ever are just making it more difficult for new works to come to Broadway, as there are a limited number of Broadway theaters.

I would love to see them bring back original Broadway performers in the show.

nope, your not the only one. i don't want it to close either. i think that it has a great script/score and that the entire production if phenominal. I'm just glad that i got to see it twice. Does anyone know anything about the show that is replacing it?
...but don't get me wrong, I like the show.
Ooo I want AIDA to close! I think it has had a great time on broadway but like cvapb said, all good things must come to an end. There are some fabulous shows going to open soon and I can't wait for them.
I'm heartbroken that it's closing... I'm really going to miss it. It's one of my favorite shows - I'm not even sure why I love it so much... I just remember being totally mesmerized seeing it when I was young and falling in love with the music almost instantly.
I'm really sad to see it go.

I couldn't be more upset. There's just something about it. The lyrics are so wonderful. I fell in love with it at the beginning. Just got my tickets to the closing. Very excited, very depressed. Nice to know Adam Pascal will be back to close it. I'd love to see Heather come back.
When my friend called to tell me, I cried. Literally... then she told me Adam was coming back and that made it sort of bittersweet. I have to go see it a bunch of times over the summer.
I'm sad about it closing...I really did love that show, but some of the casting decisions recently have been nothing short of atrocious. If that's what they need to resort to in order to bring in the money, I would rather they close on a good note.

It is time for Aida to close... I saw the original cast, which blew me away. Since that time in 2000, I loved the show so much I saw it three more times. Each time, I thought the title character got worse. I did enjoy Will Chase's Radames and Mandy Gonzalez's and Idina Menzel's Amneris. However, I must say that the person playing the title character was worse as time went on. After seeing Heather, then Simone (actually was the worst of who I saw), Toni Braxton and Michelle Williams. It just turned me off to the show. Unlike B&theB, where having Christine Carlson Romano come in (who is great), those other popular stars weren't the best move for Aida and it lost me on Toni Braxton.
I've heard from all sources that Deborah Cox is stunning in the role. I've heard that she is the best since Heather. I think it is good that they are ending on a good note. No one wants to see this show go out with [insert favorite awful r&b singer here] in the title role, do they? Of course not. The cast now is good, let's leave it happily. Now we can see it in regional theatre. Good shows don't die. It will be revived eventually as well. I'm sure it will.
I saw Toni Braxton in the role and am still having nightmares. To be perfectly honest I was underwhelmed (sp?) by that entire cast, which included Will Chase and Mandy Gonzalez. But Toni was positively the worst performance I've ever seen on a Broadway stage. Luckily I've heard very good things about Deborah...
