I heard from someone who is a set dresser on broadway, that they are planning on either auctioning the metal arch piece from the RENT set and donating the profits to the equity broadway cares fund, or they may give the pieces to the original castmembers as a goodbye kind of thing.
Thoughts.. comments?

Posted: 1/20/08 at 2:40pmI think they should break it into pieces and give some to the Larson family, some to the OBC, and some for auction and signed by the OBC.

Why would his family even want the junky metal set? There are much better ways to remember him.
They auctioned off the old doors at the BC/EFA flea market a few years ago; I'd imagine they'd do something similar with all the leftovers this time. There are too many ex-cast members to all get a piece.

To own a keepsake of what was their son's spectacular work?

. My comment was to the question of why would they want a piece of the set. The only reason I can think of is to own a piece of the set of their son's work. Yes, they also have other memories and keepsakes.
I know the Larsons and am well aware that Jonathan existed before Rent.
You're funny.

Posted: 1/20/08 at 3:33pmThat was exactly my point, LePetiteFromage. If they did want a keepsake from Rent to remember him and his work, why does it necessarily have to be the biggest, most prominent piece?

Because they may want just a small piece of it.
You don't know what they may or may not want. I was offering one reason why they may want it.

Posted: 1/20/08 at 3:52pmYou don't know what they may or may not want either. I was questioning why is everyone assuming that they would want that one set piece, instead of anything else in the production.

oy, I was only answering this question of yours.

Posted: 1/20/08 at 4:21pmI think they should build a Rent Museum next to Madame Tussaud's. Put the set there, the costumes, ticket tubs, playbills, awards...come on, it would be a goldmine.

*** will not make joke about cast members needing jobs, so wax figures are unnecessary ***
Whatever. BTW, shouldn't your screen name be either "LePetitFromage" or "LaPetiteFromage" ?
It's too late now, anyway.
