Got word this morning that Sarah Brightman will be doing an interview on one of our channels in June. But her PR person tells me she will not do an interview on the Broadway channel. I will write more about this in next week's column. Stay tuned!
We'll STILL play her music On Broadway, XM-28
#2Maybe Bill should tell us who to write!
Posted: 5/21/03 at 11:02amPerhaps a deluge of e-mails to the Record Company may give Bill his interview! Your thoughts!

Don't know WHO her record label is these days. Maybe I'll ask her when she's here...
Oh wait...

I have nothing but loathing for those who make their mark in a particular aspect of showbiz, develop a large fan base, then decide it's time to "move up" and, in doing so, just dump on the fans that got them there in the first place.
It ... just ... makes ... me ... ANGRY!

#5Sarah Brightman, On Broadway xm-28

Bill,
Of course you're going to continue to play her on xm-28. Because, like it or not, she's a Broadway Star. And some day she'll be singing the praises of the Great White Way...when it suits her to do so...some day when her britches are fitting her again. Oh dear, did I say that? Eldon must be wearing off on me...we really must discuss him.

#6She seems to shun her time on Broadway...
Posted: 5/21/03 at 12:21pmBut she'll be back - they always come back!
#7If you do get to interview her ever....

I would spend an inordinate amount of time, asking her about the "creative process" that Sir Andrew went thru composing "BY JEEVES". That'd fix the ole girl!
Fondly,
Max

What is this about the Brightman dame not appearing on the Broadway Bill show? I will contact my contact with the Brightman administration immediately to resolve this!
Also...what will you be dining on this evening when you return home to the Park Avenue Estate Bill?
Eldon
#10Eldon! You've Gained Weight!

Eldon, you old codger! Despite the rigors of being my brother's manservant, you look healthier than you have ever been! Please don't let this thing with Ms. Brightman scare you or make you cry, like you did last year when Ms. Stritch burst into naughty words and you thought she was speaking to you, personally. She wasn't.
Perhaps, once you're done serving cocktails to the Jovial One and H.K.K., YOU could give her handlers a call and convince them to be on his show!
I KNOW Bill would thank you for your kind efforts, as do I!

#11Bill do you have a twin brother?
Posted: 5/21/03 at 5:17pmOr did someone slip something into my coffee this morning?
#12I'm not responsible for your coffee, but...
Posted: 5/22/03 at 7:34amYes, I do have a twin brother in "Wet Elbow, Wisconsin" or something like that. And on a side note to the lovely HKK, would you do me a favor and check to see that Eldon disconnected from the Internet after his last post? These AOL charges will BANKRUPT me!
#13Wet Elbow, INDEED!
Posted: 5/22/03 at 10:27amMY, how the boy from Iowa has become an urban(e) sophisticate! But he knows full well there IS no Wet Elbow, Wisc., as it was washed away in the Velveeta floods of '93. We now reside in Cheesecrust, WI, thank you!
#14Speaking of Elbows...

Now, now boys. Let's keep the sibling rivalry in check and remember why we're all here. It's not about your elbow jabs at each other, but that Miss Sarah Brightman has chosen to rub her elbows with those outside the Broadway community, deigning, I suppose, that her elbows are superior to those of our own Broadway Bill.
Focus!

HKK, I thank you for your efforts to refine my brother's gentleman skills, which were sadly lacking. (I have photos of him, in bib overalls, playing with the swine and bovine but wish not to share them.)Frankly, with you and Eldon looking after him, I feel he's in good hands and may well amount to something some day.
And WHY won't Sarah Brightman deign to visit Broadway Bill ... ESPECIALLY since he has such exquisite elbows?
#17Why, indeed
Posted: 5/22/03 at 11:30am"Why?" is the million-dollar question. I suppose there are two possibilities...Miss Brightman is getting full of herself and is forgetting where she began her journey, or she is less than pleased with Broadway's sometimes less-than-kind comments about Sir Andrew. If it's possibility "A," while we must acknowledge a person's right to move forward in life, I'm not sure it's ever a good thing to forget the people who helped you get where you are. It's the whole idea of "the toes you step on on the way up, are connected to the butts you kiss on the way down" thing. That being said, it may just be really simple--possibility "B." Like Bill said previously. She's skeered.

And these are my final words on the subject -- save for the column I've just submitted.
It is NEVER wise for a performer to forget where he/she comes from. He/She may have to move back there someday.
And with that...
