Well, the benefit was awesome! The benefit was for Putnam Recreation Program for the Handicapped (PRPH), so the benefit was celebrating the 25th anniversary of this program in Putnam County (no, not
that Putnam County...sorry Bee fans). So, here's the program:
Sue Anderson provided accompaniment for every song except for mine.
Merwin Foard began by singing "Nashville Nightingale" (George Gershwin/Irving Caeser.)
Rebbeca Spencer sang the Cole Porter tune "I've Got You Under My Skin."
Becky Baxter sang "Popular," which was pretty hilarious.
Robert Newman sang "All I Care About" from
Chicago. Cris Goenendaal sang "Co-Dependent," which was written by John Forster.
Craig Shulman sang another Cole Porter song, "Night and Day."
Melissa Bak, another one of Becky's students, sang "Hold On" from
The Secret Garden. Craig and Cris did a duet called "Lily's Eyes," which was also from
The Secret Garden. Intermission
Becky and Merwin sang "When the Children are Asleep."
Robert sang "You Make Me Feel So Young."
Rebecca Spencer sang a medley of "I Remember" and "Piece of Sky," both composed by Sondheim.
Merwin did another Sondheim song that you might soon see him singing..."Pretty Women."
Becky sang "I Don't Want to Walk Without You, Baby."
Cris did a hilarious Liza Minelli song composed by Kander and Ebb called "Sara Lee."
Craig then reprised his triumph as Jean Valjean by singing "Bring Him Home."
For the finale, everyone but me sang "Climb Ev'ry Mountain."
Finally, for the encore, "The Impossible Dream (The Quest)" was performed on vocals and guitar by me, Jason Breslin. That brought down the house! I wish there was a way that I could share that moment with you guys.
"Ev'ry-buddy wants ta get into de act!"
- Jimmy Durante
"Breathe from your hoo-hoo."
-Kristin Chenoweth
