I've been going through a lot lately and nothing/no one is helping. Everyone has been rather crappy to me...
But Broadway songs always seem to cure me...is that weird?
They make me feel better...
Anyone have any suggestions for what to listen to?

Legally Blonde
Hairspray
Sweet Charity
Putnam County
of course The Drowsy Chaperone is all about a guy using musical theatre to cure his blues
Sweet Charity is the perfect show/movie to lift up your spirits. She gets everything she always wanted but in the end it's all taken away from her and she's back where she started but she's just as hopefull as ever. Whenever I'm down I watch/listen/think about it and say "if she can have hope and carry on than I can too!"

"Without Love" from Hairspray
"Brave Enough for Love" from Jane Eyre
"Mary Jane / Mary Lane" from the Reefer Madness movie musical
I actually think that RENT is good for when you're in kind of a rebellious/angsty mood.

MrSweetNAwful, you found Sweet Charity uplifting?! I found it the exact opposite! It depressed me. I mean, here's this completely lovely, slightly naive, not-too-bright but good hearted girl looking for love and okay, so she doesn't have the most respectable job in the world, but she tries hard and she has perfectly attainable dreams and she can't get a good job or a good guy. She has to endure hiding in the closet while the guy she adored humiliates her by taking back his old girlfriend after getting Charity's hopes up. She gets almost to the altar with another guy that she thinks is Mr. Right. She leaves her job, her shared appartment, her friends and gives up everything for him, only to have him wimp out and leave her in the end. I nearly cried when she was on the phone with her friends and she couldn't tell them the truth that she didn't end up getting married. Sure, she walks through the park on a sunny day at the end and seems still optistic about the future, but I just found it depressing that she was starting all over again with nothing--no job, no place to live, no money, no husband.... I guess everybody looks at the story differently.
But I think most happy Broadway songs can uplift you. I personally like "On a wonderful day like today" (it's corny but it's happy), "With a little bit of luck", "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang" (I think it's the tune that I love), "Defying Gravity" and of course anything from Avenue Q or Spamalot for a good laugh.
