I saw The Producers SRO today!

I'm really tired and this isn't much of a review, but more of a long, rambling commentary.
I loved the show. It was hysterical and offended possibly every person in the audience. But I didn't want to see a night performance, as I did. I wanted to see a matinee.
My sister, me and our friend came into the city to see the matinee for Avenue Q-without tickets. Fair enough, right? So the line to TKTS spanned around the block-twice. And the shows there werent' even good! So we went to just about every theater to find tickets between 44th and 47th Street for matinees and EVERY SINGLE THEATER was sold out, and we missed getting cancellation tickets for The Producers by TWO PEOPLE. There were three tickets and the two people in front of them bought two. So we decided to walk around NYC singing, garnerign some strange looks and a few compliments on either our tastes or voices.
So the box office for Avenue Q is closed (it's about 1:45) and my sister and our friend and I are chilling and we see Barret Foa! So I say "oh my god, it's Barret Foa!" and our friend's like, "No, of course not!" Then he sees the scarf and we chased after him, but didn't catch up in time. It upset me greatly.
So we went to Avenue Q to see if they had night tickets and it was sold out. We tried The Producers and they had standing room tickets, going on sale at 6! It was about 3:30 at the time, so we went to Starbucks and sat by the Marquis and went to Theater Circle (and didn't buy anything!) Then at 5:15, we were first in line for SRO! We had to wait an hour to get tickets, then we ran a few streets to meet my parents for dinner.
We ran back to the theater at 7:30, and we got to view The Producers standing up! By then, my feet were going to die. I tried sitting, and the usher yelled at me, so I bent my knees at random intervals during the show. Then intermission! I thought I could sit down in someone's seat for a few minutes, but my sister's friend decided he wanted to see the balcony! Four words: 75 steps each way. My feet are still burning. I loved the show, but couldn't wait for it to end so I could sit! The show was hysterical though. Hunter Foster and Jai Rodriguez were my favorites, but everyone was fabulous.
So show ends, we have 20 mintues to wait at the stage door. I got a picture with Jai (aah!!!!) and the guy who played Bialystock (his name escapes me at the moment). We wanted to wait for Hunter, but he took so long to get out of the stage door! I've seen him in 3 shows and met him once, which is a bit of a record for me (as most times seen and least times met). So next time I go to the city, I'm going door-hopping and I will meet him!
So this review was random but I'm tired and this wasn't actually a review but I don't care. I hope you enjoy reading about my experience today and if you don't, don't tell me, I don't care. By the way, my feet are going to fall off.
Goodnight!

Posted: 12/29/05 at 2:46amI was in the city today, and all my attempts at seeing a show failed...if you're planning on student rush, be one of the first ones at the box office, or go during a less popular week...

"You chased after Barret Foa? That's creepy... Is he the white rabbit?"
Sounds more like a fox hunt or Wild Kingdom.
It is creepy.
Leave the guy alone.

That sounded wrong, didn't it. It wasn't like that. We weren't running after him screaming his name or anything. We just walked in the general director of the stage door, and we walked fast. Not underexaggerating. It wasn't horribly stalkerish.

Glad you liked the producers I saw it last week (6th time) I thought Jai was cute but he's not my favorite Carmen (that goes to Stephen Matthews here in London)
I also waited for Hunter but I either missed him or he was taking forever (it was the evening) and I didn't want to seem scary and stalkerish being the only one there, which is a shame as I've seen him 4 times now and never got a chance to meet him

Posted: 12/29/05 at 10:25amThe actor playing Max is John Treacy Eagan, and as he has the principal role in the show, it would be nice to give him credit. Seeing that no one else prompted you with his name, I thought I'd tell you so you can remember it the next time. He is a great talent who has worked in this show for quite some time and did a dynamite Franz too.

John is an excellent Franz and super sweet person too!
I'm so glad you enjoyed the show, and although I'm sorry for your tired feet (I don't think I could handle SRO...) it's really good to hear that the show is still selling well. I'm so glad it's still in great shape, but with the current cast as it is - how could you go wrong? I only wish I could get up there to see John, Hunter, Gary, and Jai.

Barret is a really nice guy.
He is ALWAYS around 45th Street. Every single night I see a show there, I run into him. Sometimes on 8th, sometimes on Broadway.
C is for Company has seen him much more than I have on those streets.
