Hiya... it's been a long long time since i posted here, but here goes.
I just got in to a top school to do a musical theatre degree here in London(UK) and at some point after i really want to work on broadway. I know there's the theatre exchange program, but is that the only way i'll ever get to work over there?
Ever since i saw a video of the rockettes I've wanted to get up and dance at radio city - provided that in three years time i am good enough and sparkle at the audition, would they take me on even though i am british?
Thinking a little too far ahead, true... but that is a big reason why i went into performing, i have to do it.
Take care all
xx
There are rockette training classes at Radio City Music Hall if you're ever in the area..I was gonna do it, but then I decided since I kinda suck at dancing I'd let others do it lol. The only requirement I know specifically of is that you have to be 5'6" or taller to join.
Thank you hun... I'm 5'6 exactly :) Wohoo!
I was also wondering more about licensing and equity though. Am I allowed to perform professionally in the US at all?
Thanks for any help
xx
Oh, they all have to be the exact same height? I kinda figured but they look a lot taller than 5'6

I think some English performers are allowed to work in the U.S. in exchange for American performers working in England- an Equity agreement. But I don't know if that would apply to the Rockettes.
To start with, you'd need to get an American work visa- I'd look up information on that obstacle first.
Jimmyojimmy-I edited my message lol..5'6" or taller :) hehe
Oh, nice, because I always wanted to be a rockette, and I'm 5'11 and I was like "NOOOOOO"!

Actually...the height limit on Rockettes is 5' 10.5". Sorry.

darn, I'm 5'5 and a quarter
Think I could wear high shoes and long pants and trick them?
Cindy you can have my 3/4 of an inch and then we could both be rockettes
I've ALWAYS wanted to be a rockette...but i can never because i am 5'3 1/2" lol. It really sucks and I doubt I will get 3 inches in the next few years. But, let's hope! haha
I can always play the ballerina bear..haha

I think it would be awesome to be a rockette. I read on their website once that you can't be over 5'10" though which makes me sad b/c I'm 5'11.5". I like being tall but that really stinks!
I know years ago my friend Terri auditioned she said first thing you do is you go barefoot and if you don't meet 5'6 you must leave
anyone know if that changed?
well then i should just show up for fun....
I never wanted to be a Broadway star. Being famous has too many duties...

Before you want to be a Rockette, you might want to check out Val's monologue before "Dance: Ten, Looks: Three"!
"[Forget] the red shoes!"
:) (Kidding)
If you're ever in New York, you should check out the Rockette workshops. I went to one over holiday break, and they teach you some of their stuff (and the kicline) and then you have a mock audition.
I tooka tour of RCMH and I thought they said there wasn't a height requirement anymore. They just put the shorter girls onteh ends and work up to the tallest in the middle. I guess I'm wrong.
I went in December they said you have to be between 5'6 and 5'10.
