So...who's going?
I can tell you right now, as soon as tickets go on sale, I've got them. I am not missing this show. Short is absolutely hysterical and an amazing character actor. I can just imagine what he has planned for this show. All I know is that I have got to see this. I know it's going to be a great success.

well, I can tell ya!!
Scott & I have been developing this show with Marty off and on this past year, and had an informal reading last month of the material we have written so far.
It was A LOT OF FUN. The reading featured 4 great performers besides Marty. Brooks Ashmanskas, Jackie Hoffman, Ana Gasteyer and Capathia Jenkins. All of them both hysterical and great singers!
Marty plays about a billion characters as we trace his (fabricated) life story and, one by one, have fun with the concept and the concepts of every "confessional one person show" to have hit Broadway these past few years.
Not to mention a lot of funny **** that has nothing to do with that! The action will take place ALL OVER the theatre. Look up the term HELLZAPOPPIN in your theatrical index!
The plan is to keep writing, do another workshop, then open out of town and hit Broadway sometime next season.
If you want to laugh and laugh and also hear a (perhaps) surprising amount of new songs and great singing, I don't think you will be dissapointed!! If you all laugh half as much as we do rehearsing, we are in great shape!
(knock wood)

it is impossible to think of something to post other than 1) i am watching martin short on HBO right now and 2) i am in love with him
well, i guess i could mention that the reading had the whole crowd in stitches! the comment afterwards was the general extreme facial and stomach pain resulting from two straight hours of belly laughs

Jeez, I actually "got" the reference to HELLZAPOPPIN' (Olsen & Johnson etc....). Didn't Jerry Lewis revive it and take it on the road a couple of decades ago?
Oh my god.
How OLD am I?
