The twelve usual questions asked by BroadwayWorld.com posters...
1. What performances, if any, will the principals be missing?
None. There are no understudies.
2. Who will be their replacement?
See answer to #1.
3. Where is the stage door?
Off the lobby. It’s only a 70-seat house.
4. Are there any discount codes?
No, but the ticket price is only $15.00 – Such a deal.
5. Are there obstructed views?
No. All the seats are great.
6. Is there a student rush policy?
No, but there are reduced prices if you want to buy a ticket to the whole festival.
7. What does the lead smell like?
We are hopeful that good hygiene will be practiced by not only the lead, but the entire cast. Otherwise he smells like mint with a dash of vanilla.
8. What merchandise will be available?
None yet. This is only the first production. We're negotiating with Sominex, though. Kidding.
9. What is there to eat nearby?
The theatre is in the middle of midtown Manhattan. You wont starve. There's a nice deli on 35th and 8th. I can't recall the name, but the pastrami worked for me.
10. Is it going to extend or move to Broadway?
INSOMNIA is more appropriate to Off-Broadway so if/when it extends, that is where it belongs. IS IT going to extend? I think it should.
11. Will there be an intermission?
No. INSOMNIA is a one-act piece and runs approximately 90 minutes.
12. Is there any man on man action?
I can safely say there will be intimacy and some playful titillation between the two men, but “action”? No. Yes, the two main characters are gay, but the show is intended to stimulate your mind and heart, nothing lower....but if something turns you on, go with it! Updated On: 7/10/04 at 08:56 PM

Naaaw... I thought you were my friend who is actually working on the show. I called him tonight, though, and realized you... weren't.
I'll be at the show one of the nights... haven't figured out when I'm going.

Every so often I wander off of the Great White Way to the non-Broadway world of theater. And with only a couple of unfortunate exceptions, I've come away from the shows vowing to focus more of my theater going time and dollars in that direction. Last night was another such experience for me.
There is no point in my rehashing the plot...the link to the TalkinBroadway review is in one of the earlier posts in this thread. The point I'd rather make is how much talent there is to be found in a show like Insomnia...polished, professional performances of very appealing songs. I DO feel that if Insomnia is to head on to bigger and better venues, there is room for a little tweaking here and there...some of the songs are a little long and occasionally repetitive. But my complaints are minor.
Insomnia's entire cast of seven is very strong. Everyone except Eric Millegan (who I've seen and enjoyed in other shows) was new to me. After the show, I couldn't help but think about how many incredibly talented people are pouring their hearts and souls into performances that we DON'T end up obsessing about on message boards. My daughter remarked, as we walked to the car, "Did you ever notice how some of the most amazing voices you hear AREN'T on Broadway?"
It's easy to forget that good theater doesn't have to cost triple digit dollars. Last night, for $15.00 per ticket, we had a second row seats to a solid evening of musical theater.
