"What are the rush/standing room rules for this show (if indeed there is rush or standing room)?"
They have SRO.. not sure on the specifics, but I just walked up to the box office shortly after it opened today and got one. There was no line or anything. $37. A friend of mine walked up after noon on Wednesday and was able to get one, too. They don't seem to be publicizing it at all.
I think they also may offer partial view student rush seats for the same price.
Also: the box office staff at the Schoenfeld are amongst the nicest on Broadway.

This baby soars, and that's why fans are flocking to see the stars in it. Sure, it's lightweight and not a Pulitzer winner, but so what ? It's full of laughs with some very touching moments. A very enjoyable night of theatre, even if some think it's too long. I didn't want it to end, and I've seen it twice, and if I didn't live so far away would stand in line to see it again. Bravo to Mr. McNally, the cast and production crew !!! And to the pessimists who say I'm a shill...in the words of Virginia..."F_ _ _ you !" I paid a lot of money both times to see this show and I've got no connection to it what so ever, other than being one of thousands who LOVE IT.
OMG. Is that what I sound like?

I suggest it's because Broderick is a fine, winsome actor who can underplay a role, offering a nice contrast to the mayhem going on around him. You'll notice how in this play his droll, earnest monotone sets him up nicely for what brings the loudest single laugh in the play...when he responds to Ira Drew's question..."What wouldn't you do for a good review ?"

The single loudest laugh of the play, the night I attended, belonged to the Harvey Fierstein joke. And even if the other punchline was the biggest laugh- two hours of monotonous, somnambulant delivery is not redeemed by one joke.
Broderick served as a nothing but a black hole for the energy of the production. When he delivers his lengthy monologues, the ceiling of the Schoenfeld becomes more interesting.

I do not agree with many on this board about Broderick. I think he did a fine job with this role which was the most difficult one of all the characters in this play. Lane was brilliant but along with the coat check character, they delivered line after line of jokes and with no depth of character required. In this play, along with his character in The Producers, Broderick provides the performance that the audience pulls for. A beaten down person who finds a way to persevere is the way it plays to me.
His subtlety provides the balance to the over the top characters that surround him. I actually find it a relief in this play rather than a negative. What I do concede, as I said from the time I saw it is that the length of the dialogue of his character should have been trimmed. That's the fault of the writer, not the actor.
Also, the funniest line of the night was delivered by Broderick on the night I saw the play, actually. Stopped the play for almost a full minute with applause as well. Timing was great with the few comic lines he was given.

Loved Nathan and Stockard and says Micah could be the next Jim Parsons. But wonders why on earth Matthew got the last bow. "Largesse from Nathan?"
