Posted: 9/27/09 at 10:19pmJust returned from the Sunday night performance of In the Heights. It was absolutely fantastic. From the looks of the curtain call, it was Janet Dacal's (Carla) last, and the cast was clearly emotional and on the top of their game. Michael Balderrama was on for Usnavi and was FANTASTIC. Very talented. Lin-Manuel Miranda was in the audience as well, and I saw him signing autographs as he made his way backstage to the cast. While I'm sure this show was great because of Lin's presence and Janet's last, the show was in wonderful shape. I still marvel at the beauty of this show every time I see it.

Tonight was indeed Janet's last show. I didn't think she would be leaving this soon since Wonderland doesn't begin performances 'til the end of November. She will be missed very much.
Any word on her replacement?

I saw either his first or one of his first and I really liked him.
Javier is out ALL the time so I'm sure Michael has gone on plenty of times now.

Considering she has been with the show for over one year (not that soon), I am sure she just wanted to relax before her next show. Besides, if Wonderland starts performances in November, wouldn't the company be rehearsing now?

Posted: 9/27/09 at 11:31pmWonderland would probably be starting rehearsals now or sometime soon since it's a new piece. Sometimes actors do leave one show and then directly go into another but in that case they are usually replacing another actor but with a new piece/production that's not the case.
