Andddddd I suppose that J.'s film career is thriving more than Nicole Kidman's at the moment.
If it's a tiny role, there won't be an Oscar nom. But, if it's a memorable role, producers, directors and casting agents will remember her. This could lead to larger roles and perhaps even an Oscar nomination in the future. Everyone has to start somewhere, especially since a Tony Award doesn't mean anything in Hollywood. Unfortunately.
I forgot where, but I'v been hearing that this movie is likely to be one of those Oscar-contending movies when it comes out (meaning of that level...not meaning it WILL be nominated). If it is...surely her name will get out there a little more. Just a guess...
Just like to make it clear, I'm not naysaying. I'm a big fan of Idina and would love to see her elsewhere (in movies), but I'm just trying to be realistic. But, who knows?
PJ, I like your comment about Tony Awards not meaning much in hollywood. theres a lot of truth to that not just because hollywood is a bigger business but because only 4 oscars are given out a year for acting while 8 Tonys are given out year. I hear that film is a much better place to start out than theatre. Any bif hollywood name can be in a broadway show if they want regardless of talent but it never seems to work the other way around. Yes, I am an NYU acting student here in NY but I do not plan on going into the business unless i feel like it so im not saying I have a career i expect to take off. I may decide to do graduate school in space exploration. lol
