roquat your points are genious. especially when we think about how much people "loovve" movie star/tv stars/ musicians who are incredibly more inaccessible than our broadway stars

Going slightly off topic but during Finale B, right when the whole group starts singing along with Rosario and Adam ("No othe road, no other way, no day but today...") one of the girl's voices stands out very significantly to me and I was wondering who it was. It sounds too light and "musical" to be Idina or Tracie but it doesn't quite sound like Rosario either. 0_o Anyone know who it is?

You know, that's a really good question. I listened to it over and over and couldn't decide whose voice I thought that it was. I think it might be Tracie and Idina or Tracie and Rosario singing together and both going up slightly on "No other way," with Tracie being the one that you can hear most clearly? yeah, that could be it sweetsiren....I don't think its Idina because from what I've heard she just doesn't sound like that up high but whoever it is, it sounds really pretty.

I agree that a lot of the "more prominent vocals" are mostly due to a decrease in number of singers. You can hear individual voices much clearer without other, perhaps similar vocal types, to blend in. And I don't think that's any recording fault. It's a fact of numbers.

And on a pseudo-related topic... I'm assuming they used session singers for the numbers like "Life Support" and "Will I?"... but why aren't they credited in the booklet? Or am I just blind? I see the credits for Steve and Gordon, but otherwise??

Going back on topic, 3 females: Idina, Tracie and Rosario. Tracie does have the solo in SoL, and Rosario is not as vocally strong as her other female costars, thus the boost of Idina's vocals? Makes sense to me.

I agree completely with that. Plus, Idina's just got a strong voice. She's going to stand out. And if she does, good for her (as long as it's not excessive and takes away from the songs).

About the other topic on this thread, I am very shy in person, until I get to know someone, and I know that if I had fans like that, I would be totally freaked out. She doesn't have to sign. I'm surprised she makes it the times she does. That being said, I'm going to SWIWS on the 20th, and will kill someone if there are screaming teens there. Not because of the signing, but because of the show. And if she signs after, great. If not, fine also.

Dreamcatcher,

The beautiful and talented Tracie Thom's track is on the left, when your listening through your headphones. She is the strongest vocal heard when they come in on "no other road, no other way. No day but today...".

Thanks very much Waxlion! re: Idina Sound Track ... I mean Rent Sound Track. If that's her, she sounds beautiful and alot softer then during her other solos on the CR. Which would explain why I didn't really recognize her voice but it sounded great.

I'm shocked that anyone would think you had ulterior motives, Defying. :-P

I think she is a little more heard in the soundtrack but it's probaley( yeah i know i can't spell that word don't jump down my back) not on purpose mabye her voice is just a little louder. As for her being rude to her fans i don't think she'd be rude to anyone unless they deserved it or she had a bad day or something it happens.

Yeah, after repeat listens it's definitely Tracie that you can hear when they all come in on Finale B. There are a few other points on the soundtrack where you can pick her out among the other ladies and it's similarly softer and more melodic than her solo singing.

And DO they use studio singers? I sort of thought that it was probably just the eight principals most of the way through, other than the credited soloists. The voices on the OMPS version of Will I? are a lot more sparse than they were on the OBC soundtrack, and I can pick out most of the characters singing.
