"I just don't want to be near Idina when she looses."
What's THAT supposed to mean?
And just to throw in my opinion here...yes I think Idina should win..for very legitimate reasons. If it's not Idina, I'm hoping for Tonya. For someone to say Donna is not worthy of a Tony is ridiculous.
But honestly, I thought Idina WOULD win this year. Not because I personally would like her to win, just because I'm used to the Tonys being...well...political. Prime example...last year Marissa Jaret Winokur won over Bernadette Peters. Last year Hairspray was the show, and since it seems as though Wicked is THE show this year...one of the leading ladies from Wicked would take it home. I don't believe they have much of a chance anymore, and honestly, I believed Kristin didn't stand much of a chance from the start. I'd be realyl interested in seeing where the rest of the votes for the Outer Critics Circle and Drama Desk Awards landed.
And I really don't think there's a real "split" between the votes for Kristin and Idina.

Yes what do you mean by "I just don't want to be near Idina when she looses."
She is not the type to start a scene over something like this. She is both mature and professional. Now honestly anybody's opinion on this message has no weight...people can argue for Idina, Donna, Kristin, or anyone and it's not going to change people's opinions. I for one want Idina to win and I could probably write an entire essay on why I think she deserves it, but I'll spare you guys. But please don't start saying things that really reflect on a person's inner character because I'm guessing whoever said that doesn't know Idina at all so they obiosuly don't know that she's above that. Please let's keep these responses friendly towards their characters!

From what I've seen, Chenoweth had widespread critical praise and the undying love of Ben Brantley and Pinkins and Murphy got almost usniversal raves, but all the adoration of Menzel has come from people on this message board, not critics or Tony voters. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, but that's what it seems like to me. So I'm not really surprised that Menzel isn't winning anything.

No, Plum, you are far from wrong, that is very true.
Needless to say, I was surprised by that too.
But for some reason,I really felt that Idina had a better shot at the Tony anyway...I don't know why.

I really wanted Idina to win, but it looks like it won't happen... BUT, is anyone else here hoping she wins just so we don't have to hear Bernadette88 preach about how Idina should have won this year like she did about Peters last year? :-P (And I mean that to be funny, not mean!)

thats true, and keep in mind that a lot of people do leave the gershwin saying that kristen stole the show. yes, im another idina supporter, but i sadly dont think she has it in the bag by far. i'd say donna is the front-runner here, then maybe pinkas, with d'abruzzo as the long shot. what i am not sure of is where kristen and idina stand in this; it seems like kristen gets a lot of praise from critics but i get the impression (the IMPRESSION, im not stating this as a fact) that people in the biz have maybe lost respect for her because of her missed performances, constant injuries, inability to sign autographs, on-stage bloopers, etc. though none of those things (well, ecept maybe the bloopers) should effect the voters opinions because their decisions should be based on the performances, that doesnt mean that they really are.
imo, idina has put much more effort into wicked than kristen has, that, and not-to-mention her amazing performance make me favor her.

Get over it. Respect the artists, and and be glad that they all have jobs again. Who cares who wins, it's old people politic crap sometimes, and other times it's who "deserves" it. All I know is Donna got the best reviews of any female performer I have seen in a long long time. They are all great. Smile.

Not seeing Tonya or Donna, I won't say, who will win. From the CD and the first time I saw WICKED and a recent post, I wonder if Idina is a little inconsistant. The last time I saw her, she deserved the TONY. Kristin is always amazing, and her role requires her to sing more styles with a larger over-all range. The problem is that her character isn't as subtle (but she certainly finds them and uses them really well) nor does it belt as high. A lot of musical theatre people seem to think that belting is the be-all end-all, well, Kristin sings operatically, country/western, yodels, and belts all in one show. That's not easy. So, of the two, I think it should go to Kristin Chenoweth, but who knows...

Well, I do agree that if it were just Idina and Kristin, I would give it to Kristin too but, I still think it should be Donna.
