Idina in Disney Film: Enchanted

Thanks to Kim for alerting me to this news.

Idina Menzel is set to star in a new movie. The new Disney CGI/Live-Action musical entitled "Enchanted!" She plays the best friend of the princess, played by Amy Adams, (Catch Me If You Can), who is banished from her animated world by an evil queen after falling in love with a prince, and she is sent to modern-day Manhattan!

It is unclear if Idina is going to be starring as a voice of a CGI character or if she will be on-screen live-action talent.

it apparently begins filming in March 2006 in NYC (the live action stuff, of course) - some of the animation has already been completed, I think, and it's slating for a late 2006/early 2007 release. :)

at least from what I hear.

Alan Menken has been attached to this project for years. Its about time they actually DID it. So, with Idina wailing out Alan's tunes, it should be at least worth the price of a movie ticket. hehe

I know! this thing has been around forever and always sounded intersting but w/ Idina in it It'll definitley be worth seeing. According to the Disneysites message boards, disney has also been working on another movie with Kristin Chenoweth:

june 2009 - 'Rapunzel Unbraided'
CGI Fairy Tale directed by Glen Keane, starring Kristin Chenoweth, Reese Witherspoon. Sick to death of storybook endings where true love conquers all, a frustrated witch brings two romantically - challenged teenagers from the real world into the classic fairytale, and transforms them into the legendary long-haired heroine and her gallant prince

I think I read somewhere that she voices a squirrel or something really strange like that. But hey at least disney is getting talented singers to do some of their music once again. And as far as "enchanted" anything that combines the genius of alan menken w/ Idina has got to be good. Even if it is CGI..which isn't so great to me. At least this might be one step closer to Disney having animated musicals again!

Has anybody read the description on IMDB? When I first heard about it, I looked it up there, and I have to admit I laughed out loud because it sounds pretty ridiculous..there is even a line about being banished to the one place where true love does not exist,Manhattan. I love Disney, and I love Idina Menzel, but a half cartoon/half live action Disney movie musical about a banished fairytale princess in NYC? Maybe I'll be pleasantly surprised.

haha- how funny that the movie Kristin will be in has something to do with a witch....

she seems quite prone to 'witchiness'.... (WICKED and BEWITCHED)

I've read the description on IMDB & I'm not so sure about this movie. I love Idina but I may wait for this one to come out on video.
