Rosie, is that you again?
"Noah, someday we'll talk again. But there's things we'll never say. That sorrow deep inside you. It inside me, too. And it never go away. You be okay. You'll learn how to lose things..."

Okay, this just needs to be said, Wicked is an AMAZING musical, but of course everybody is entitled to their own opinion. However, this topic is to celebrate Idina, not to criticize her breathing, or her show...other topics can do fine for that, but it's so bad that you can't even put that aside to celebrate her winning the Tony....I'm sooooo proud of her, and it's alwayshard to come here and see people bashing her....and no, the show will do fine without her.....but CONGRATS IDINA!!! YOU DESERVED IT!

Thanks. That is exactly what I heard, but I just saw a Tony pic of Laura Bell Bundy and the caption said, "Now staring in Wicked..." Hummmmmm........
"I'm gonna jump!
Don't do it!
Okay!"

I think Idina deserved it. She's soo hard working and her voice is supurb! Congrats to her.

"Deserved"?? Are you people for real? Do you really believe people win these awards because they "deserve" them.
I saw all five performances and could make an argument for or against all five walking away with that award. (As well as a few others...) Namo is right on in pointing out that incessant screech of Miss Menzel and her poor breathing. Those things, coupled with her tongue hanging out of her mug -- it's like Taye is behind her giving her a big wedgie and she wants more.
But really, grow up, about the "deserving" part. It's really callow. These performers WORK for this. They lobby for the roles. The producers lobby for the awards. Only 700+ people are eligible to vote on them, and any number of factors determine how those votes are cast. Ask a Tony voter -- who "deserves" to win is usually not an issue. And, when it is, how one Tony voter defines "deserving" is far different from another. Economics factors in as much as anything else.
Some of you really need to finish high school before getting all crazy about these kinds of things. Sit back, shut up and learn something. Enjoy the performances when they are brilliant, and learn from other's mistakes when they are not. Work to perfect your craft and once you see how hard it is, you won't worry about who "deserves" a Tony -- or any other -- award.
Okay, I'm gonna get stoned now. It's after 10 a.m.

Deeisdiva, you probably have to be a member here for more than a month to realize that subtext and context and the history of frequent posters here gives you an insight to realize, for example, that when BroadwayBest starts a thread like this with a post like his, it's about MUCH more than "celebrating Idina." Trust.
