...who would be Grizabella now?
Lauren Kennedy?
Carolee Carmello?
Marin Mazzie?
Judy Kuhn?
Lillias again?
If Miss Saigon were still running, Ashlee Simpson might be Kim.
Lillias...probably not.

I care, wickedfreak. I think that CATS is one of the most important contributions to the musical theatre ever made by a closeted British drunk and if I did not care very deeply, I would not have started this thread. And furthermore, your name is "wickedfreak." That is all I have to say.
I always wanted Andrea McArdle to play Grizabella and wondered if she was ever in the running.
I would love to see Donna Murphy tackle the role eventhough she is too good for it.

...MAMMA MIA would be stinking up some other theatre.

...the audience would still be 85 percent japanese tourists.
Why not? Les Miz, Company, Chorus Line, Annie, and Grease are being resurrected. It's like the 80s & 90s all over again.
Sorry forgot Side Show.

Hopefully Chrissie Hammond. She was the last one to play the role in the West End and though her voice wasn't the kind you usually hear belt out "Memory" - her voice is a little bit like Bonnie Tyler's, or Rod Stewart's, broken & husky - she totally nailed the song! Her performance of The Song is still one of the best I've ever heard.
Or Ruthie Henshall.

It's "were" like the original poster stated because it's a conditionary clause.
"If" must be followed by "were" because "was" implies it occured while "were" is a part of the conditionary clause.
I wouldn't have interrupted the thread if two other posters turned it into grammar time.
/end grammar time
what about someone like Julia Murney, now that she's done wicked.
I care too I think Victoria Clark would be a great Grizzabella.
I wonder about Andrea McArdle as well. She would have made a great Grizabella, and Julia Murney would be amazing. I wonder what Judy Kaye would be like....
Julia Murney? I would prefer NOT to hear "Memory" jack-hammered through.
My vote goes to Rachel York.
