If Harry Potter was a musical...

Obviously, Harry Potter would be a pretty ridiculous musical. But I was thinking about how it has so many interesting little character parts, and I thought it would be fun to pick which Broadway performers could play the different adult roles.

Some of the ones that came to mind were:

Christopher Sieber as Lucius Malfoy

Kate Shindle as Bellatrix Lestrange

James Barbour as Snape (though I'm not sure they'd allow him around the young actors, and I'm not saying that snarkily)

Christian Borle as Remus Lupin (In the third book, Lupin's actually only 34.)

Jackie Hoffman as Professor Trelawney

To me, Michael Crawford's voice has always sounded extremely Voldemorty. If you could dub his voice over, say, Michael Cerveris, for the dialogue portions, it could be perfect.

I'd like to see Terrence Mann as Dumbledore, but I don't know if he could pull it off. He might come off as too harsh and creepy.

Actually, there was quite the thread on this a while back. I'm searching for the link as I speak. I actually posted a list of songs from musicals that were relevant to Harry Potter. That list has been updated since then.

I remember I made a thread about this a long time ago, and it was quite a brilliant cast.

Harry Potter - Billy Crystal
Voldemort - Harvey Fierstein
Sorting Hat - James Earl Jones
Ron - Anthony Rapp

Wow, I would pay good money to see that.

I think you should definitely have Neil Patrick Harris as Hagrid and Cheyenne Jackson as Snape to round out that cast.
