If it happened it wouldn't be the first time two actresses who are mother and daughter in real life played Desiree and Madame Armfeldt onstage together, Natasha Richardson and Vanessa Redgrave also played the roles onstage before Natasha's untimely death.

From most reports Richardson was the original first pick for the 2009 revival, but sadly died before the production got going.

if we were to throw Anna Kendrick into the mix, which role would she fit now? she played Frederika in 2003.

I think Anna Kendrick would make a great Charlotte in 2-3 years.
Blythe Danner told me that she and Gwyneth were approached as potential replacements for Catherine Zeta-Jones and Angela Lansbury. Apparently, Blythe was interested but Gwyneth didn't want to commit.

I love the idea of Danner and Paltrow in those roles. It's a shame that Paltrow did not want to commit.
As much as I liked the most recent revival, I have to say that I went into it with a heavy heart. Natasha Richardson and her mother Vanessa Redgrave are two of my favorite actresses and Natasha's untimely demise was heartbreaking. I could not help but to think of what "could have been".
I like some of the suggestions being mentioned. Great choices.
I would love to see Laura Benanti in the role of "Countess Charlotte Malcolm."
