I just found out (five years late) that Madeline Kahn died. Wow!
Im sure this is nothing new to anyone. So forgive me if I appear insensitive.
I thought she was such a unique, gifted woman. Had such a presence on & off stage.
I will miss her (starting now).
I've always been a big fan. I got to meet her when she did the concert version of "Anyone Can Whistle". She was a sweet and lovely woman.
Scotty, if you've never heard ON THE TWENTIETH CENTURY by Cy Coleman, Comden & Green, now is a good time to hear Madeline at her peak (you'll wear a black arm band, of course...)

Oh My God! What happened? First Arthur Miller, now Madeline Kahn! What a sad week on Broadway!
actually (to my suprise). It's Madeline Kahn, then Arthur!
yes Madeline Kahn died 5 years ago...
what a gifted comic actress with great performances in "Paper Moon", "Blazing Saddles", "Clue" and "On The 20th Century" among them. She was even funny in "At Long Last Love"....
Track down the otherwise ordinary NEW FACES OF 1968, the last of Leonard Sillman's Broadway revue series, for Madeline's FABULOUS Kurt Weill/Lotte Lenya/Surabaya Johnny send-up DAS CHICAGO SONG. It's a classic piece of material.
I miss her so much. She never failed to make me smile. I watched Clue the other night and I got all teary. Hers was the first celebrity death to actually affect me. I still remember coming home and hearing my father say she had passed away. I literally went completely numb, and for the rest of the night I kept breaking down; she meant that much to me.
melissa errico fan - I'm so glad you got to meet her, and sorry to say I am jealous :) Good to hear she was sweet to you :)
I got to meet Madeline after a performance of The Sisters Rosenswieg at Lincoln Center. What a fantasic woman! I would highly recommend her final movie "Judy Berlin". Find this movie and enjoy!
Madeline always makes me laugh in "Young Frankenstein" with the Sweet Mystery of life moment. Not only was it comically perfect, it was perefectly sung.
I did a huge Mel Brooks study at college (which was later thrown out by the board *grump*) and Young Frankenstein is one of my fave films (I even have a Young Frankenstein inspire tattoo on my life.. I need to get a hobby...) which obviously led me to fall madly in love with anything Madeline did. Blazing Saddles "It's twue, it's twue!" Genious.
I was also really devestated to learn of her passing, such a talent, there's still a film due for release with her vocal talents on, I remember thinking about when A Bugs life Came out, how weird it was to hear her knowing she was dead.
There's a wonderful aria knocking around on various P2P programs of her on a chat show, singing "once a moment passes" or something along those lines and bursts into Sweet mystery of life at the end, worth downloading if you can find it.
You wouldn't believe how many people don't know Madeline is dead.
The aria was "The Moment Has Passed". She performed it on the Tonight Show with Johnny Carson. You can listen to it here...
