Is this the end of immersive theatre for the foreseeable future? I don't see SNM or Then She Fell coming back after this.

Is this the nail in the coffin for large performance installations that encourage up close interactions and free roaming in confined spaces?

If you're talking about post-covid, as the title of the thread states, what is there to worry about?

One could argue that immersive productions will actually be MORE viable than regular theatre, because there is more flexibility for audience members to keep their distance from other audience members. You can theoretically still have a full audience without having people packed into cramped theatre seats. 

The biggest challenge will likely be the safety of the actors. So you may be right that specific shows like Sleep No More and Then She Fell might have trouble re-conceiving, replacing, or removing close contact with audience members. But if it can be done, they have a chance.

And going forward, it might not be so difficult for new immersive productions to be designed with social distancing in mind.
