In Regards to "Losers" Leaving Early

uh oh, here come another one of those Marc Shaiman anecdotes...

I've been nominated for an Oscar 5 times. The 5th time was for SOUTH PARK.

At all the other ceremonies, after hearing someone else's name, I sat there in my gloom the rest of the show and succesfully reminded myself I was still there, in that honored company, and what the hell...

Thank God for Trey Parker. When we lost for SOUTH PARK (to Phil Collins) Trey said "come on, let's get outa here"

it had never even occured to me that was a possibility! We went straight to parties and home and I learned not to take it so seriously, which Trey had already taught me earlier that night when we hit the red carpet dressed like this--->

p.s>. as we left (dressed as we were) everyone looked at us with jeaulous faces that said "We wish WE could leave too!!"

A pimp with his hos. That's some funny sh*t.
(Though, I doubt that Mr. Plummer was going to a swinging party, unless Geritol was hosting one)

How many of us have skipped out of functions once our portion of the event is over?

My friend the priest is invited to every single wedding reception by every single couple he marries but he never accepts because he really wouldn't be able to eat banquet food so much in his life and because, frankly, his job is done.

Oh, how well I recall that year at the Oscars. Aimee Mann was robbed! I thought I would die, DIE when Phil Collins' name was announced! DIE, I tells ya! (No offense, Marc, I loved "Blame Canada." I just loved "Save Me" more).

Marc is a CELEBRITY! Doesn't the Academy KNOW that? Isn't there some rule that celebrities win Oscars over other people? Honestly. Especially in the Best Actress category.

I just sat down wearing my Hairspray cap and the Beaches logoed denim shirt is starched and pressed as I ready myself for some big time Shaiman searchin' on IMDB, I'm one loser who ain't leaving early,no sir! Not until my beloved maestro is up alongside Mr.Brad Pitt,Beyonce,Harry Potter and of course the AMAZING Cantinflas!
